I have to admit that I read this for the sole purpose of writing my weekly mythology thread, #MingguMitologi. I read this to write the story of Cupid (Eros) and Psyche. Apuleius is a Roman writer, so he uses Roman names, but I prefer Greek names. The Golden Ass containing diverse stories from parable to a love story is probably one of the easier reads from Greek/Roman classics. I say this because I think Apuleius writes in a very direct manner without too many difficult figure of speech and metaphors. This does not discount the beauty of his stories though. I managed to read significant portion of it in a short amount of time, and bonus point: it's available for free online! I'd say this is not a must read for someone who doesn't really read Roman/Greek classics, but it was interesting nonetheless.

I read this several years ago. The main interest to me were the descriptions of daily Roman life that were incidentally included in the tale.

”It is a difficult matter to keep love imprisoned.”

Second time trying this book and i still couldn't finish it. Just does not interest me.

3,5 I'll always be a Latin worshipper in my heart. Savuros and comical, it totally brightened my day and it left me wanting to read more Latin signed works.
