i was reading a fic inspired by the author’s own experience in the diy poetry scene,, richard siken, andrea gibson, queer, trans poetry etc. etc. AND i found this a few days after coming across the said fic and i was like, what the hell sure.

in her bio at the end of the book it reads that arielle twist is a “two-spirit, trans femme supernova writing to reclaim and harness ancestral magic and memories” which, ugh, i just love. 🫶

Disintegrate/Dissociate by Arielle Twist is a raw and loud collection of emotional poems about her life as a transgender woman of color. Each and every poem is overflowing with energy that she obviously poured in with her soul. I was entranced! One of my favorites was the poem "In Dying I Become" which is an honest look at what happens when you transition as most families look at it as a death they must mourn. 

Some poems boasted crude and vulgar language, and while it was a bit shocking at first, it encompassed the authors narrative on how transgender woman are seen as sexual objects instead of people.
