The experiences of my youth made my adult encounter with the machine more than life-changing. Little did I know at the time that it could potentially become the lynchpin of my demise.

I honestly wasn't impressed with the story. The torture porn starts halfway through and that graphic infamous scene- is so obviously written by a man. You would hope that basic anatomy and some level of realism would be applied by the author, but it's not the case with The Slob.

This was the most vile book I have ever read. It wasn’t scary to me because I know I would never put myself in a situation to be taken, it’s my biggest fear so I am cautious. This book gets 5 stars because for my first ever splatterpunk it has left me with a need to find something that will scare the shit out of me and make me want to vomit all at the same time. 

So while reading I kept making note when she was making her way up to the house, like this is your sign to turn around and she just kept going all giddy about that one last sale. Money is not worth is and thank god we are able to carry guns because NOPE! Can’t be me. 

if anyone has any book recommendations I am open to suggestions. 💀

ok. i am brand new to the splatter punk genre and i started this book a little nervous considering all the things i heard about it. “it’s the most horrid thing i’ve ever read!” “it’s the worst on the market!” “i couldn’t eat for a week after!” “i couldn’t even finish it!” and so on and so forth. as someone who has seen/been through some shit, i truly believe i have grown desensitized to stuff like this, because the most this book got out of me was a couple squirms. disregarding my tolerance, this book is ABSOLUTELY not for the weak. there is some next level fucked up shit in here and i do believe the author is 100% sick in the head, so please do be advised before reading. now onto the main aspects of the book itself. i found the pacing HORRIBLE. the beginning was painfully slow and everything else was painfully fast. i found the last few chapters to be utterly ridiculous in my opinion. it was hard not to laugh. the plot and certain parts got extremely predictable and i was able to guess majority of what was going to happen, so that wasn’t fun. HOWEVER the descriptive writing was phenomenal i fear, and it made it easy to visualize things in my head and it does get to you a bit. i found some aspects to be very unrealistic though. overall, the only thing that made this book good, was the descriptive writing like i said.

Thought it was well written, felt like I could see everything that was being described. There’s the two stars. Aside from that, I felt like it was disgusting and absolutely wild just for shock. Not because it made it a good story. Low key would still read the sequel to see what this guy came up with next.

This was a wild ride! Plot and build up were very good, and while I read in fear of throwing up or being forever scarred due to extreme gore I heard so much about, I found I could quite stomach this without being irreversibly traumatized. This is a major spit in the face of classical horror (which I am also a fan of), and it was intriguing to read. I dare say it was even meant to be read as a satire in certain places, making this truly an experimental and original read. 
I saw several reviews online beforehand saying the characters’ reactions are not normal, but I think that was the point. It was really raw (no pun intended) and bordering severe abnormality which, let’s face it, is what we’re looking for in splatterpunk.
PS: for those other online reviews saying that you liking this book makes you sick in the head, I would like to stress that this is a very particular genre. If you can barely stomach a Shirley Jackson please sincerely do not challenge yourself to read this. If you’re not interested in reading extreme horror and gore, simply ignore the existence of this book instead of ruining everyone else’s experience. Cheers!

This book was absolutely horrendous, vile, and disgusting. All things it set out to be. If you are not a horror/gore fan, I don’t recommend this book. Otherwise, take a crack at it.

I will not be hearing ANYONE out. No. 

1.5 stars because this is meant to be splatterpunk and that's...definitely what this was. I'll give it that, this book thoroughly repulsed me to my core. THOROUGHLY REPULSED ME. I've never been more repulsed by content before and that's really saying something from someone who is a massive horror fan. 

But still only just 1.5 stars because it also somehow managed to be so incredibly unrealistic that it took me OUT of the story. And the author somehow managed to throw in a big heaping plate of homophobia and xenophobia into the last 10 pages of this book which felt like a huge betrayal to the audience. Also the fact that this is written by a MAN and included VERY DESCRIPTIVE AND VILE imagery of sexual violence made this entire book feel like a commodification and objectification of the woman experience. The author should stay away from writing from the viewpoint of women or just ABOUT women forever.
