[White liberals] fail to see that liberal democracies die not when they are threatened by extremists, but when they see themselves as finished products, needing only to be protected from external dangers. 

The border violence of detention and deportation, for example, is driven by the need to maintain a worldwide racial division of labor; it does not diminish in the slightest if the deportation officer who carries out the violence and the capitalist who profits from it have done terrific jobs of examining their unconscious biases.

Decolonization means undoing the inequalities that colonialism created. 

Not an easy read but a really interesting and evidence-based overview of the interaction between racism and capitalism's infrastructures. The author convincingly demonstrates how structural racism became a tool for capitalism that liberal antiracism is unable to address or even comprehend. I feel like like I need another read though to really connect with the wealth of arguments and illustrations now that I understand the crux of the reasoning.
