It’s like he would take a photograph of Sam, and the photograph would be beautiful. And he would think that the reason the photograph was beautiful was because of how he took it. If I took it, I would know that the only reason it’s beautiful is because of Sam.

Him noticing things like that are forcing me to notice small details in my everyday too, it’s like he has no ignorance is bliss because he’s always paying attention and doing things for the sake of others 

All I could do was lie there and think about how much her voice changed when she asked me if she was pretty, and how much she changed when I answered, and how Sam said she didn't like things like that, and how much my arm was beginning to hurt.

It's like when you are excited about a girl and you see a couple holding hands, and you feel so happy for them. And other times you see the same couple, and they make you so mad. And all you want is to always feel happy for them because you know that if you do, then it means that you're happy, too.

I walked over to the hill where we used to go and sled. There were a lot of little kids there. I watched them flying. Doing jumps and having races. And I thought that all those little kids are going to grow up someday. And all of those little kids are going to do the things that we do. And they will all kiss someone someday. But for now, sledding is enough. I think it would be great if sledding were always enough, but it isn't.

Old pictures look very rugged and young, and the people in the photographs always seem a lot happier than you are.

I love Twinkies, and the reason I am saying that is because we are all supposed to think of reasons to live.

"He's something, isn't he?" Bob nodded his head. Patrick then said something I don't thinkI'll ever forget. "He's a wallflower."

"You see things. You keep quiet about them. And you understand."

"Charlie, we accept the love we think deserve."

"Do you always think this much, Charlie?" "Is that bad?" I just wanted someone to tell me the truth. "Not necessarily. It's just that sometimes people use thought to not participate in life."

And I wonder if anyone is really happy. I hope they are. I really hope they are.

For me personally, as much as I don't understand my mom and dad as much as I feel sorry for both of them sometimes, I can't help but love them very much.

So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.

I had to put the book down I hadn’t realized I was crying at the desk of my job. So heartbreaking

I had to stop watching at that point because I started to feel sick, but it kept going on, and they kept doing other things, and she kept saying "no." Even when I covered my ears, I could still hear her say that.

Book charlie vs Movie charlie feels so much younger, even down to the way he thinks. He’s very 15 in the book and it gives the book a different type of power compared to the movie

One night, I felt so guilty that I promised God that I would never do it again. So, I started using blankets, but then the blankets hurt, so I started using pillows, but then the pillows hurt, so I went back to normal. 

Only 26 pages in and I’m hooked. It’s so sad already too

And the only time he ever slapped me was when I made my Aunt Helen cry. And once we all calmed down, he got on his knees in front of me and said that his stepdad hit him a lot, and he decided in college when my mom got pregnant with my older brother that he would never hit his kids. And he felt terrible for doing it.

it was good though, sobrang nafeel ko si charlie sa part kung gaano siya kaobservant sa ibang tao and sa surroundings niya. and honestly the book really showed the reality of how even if you think some people have it worse or better, that doesn’t mean you should compare your situation to them kasi at the end of the day we all have different problems.

also shows the reality that people will take advantage of you, and that you’ll make mistakes, you’ll do things you regret, and it will still end up being okay. because we are all just young. and it will all pass.

what you’re going through does not define who you are. it will get better.

It was utterly amazing, incredible, it felt infinite.

There really aren't words to describe the perfection of this book. It felt so real.

The best thing about The Perks of Being a Wallflower is how relatable it is. At least for me, I don't think I'm that much of a wallflower, for I am much more outspoken than Charlie, but still, I could relate so much.

Like the ending, where Charlie is dealing with how all his friends will leave for college. At the time I read the book, it felt just like my own situation, only reversed.

The poem within the book is quite heartbreaking, too. 

Ahh, I really can't seem to say anything else than 'it was perfection.'

Charlie es un adolescente que le escribe cartas a un desconocido, contado como es su vida después del suicidio de su mejor amigo. En ellas narra cómo es su familia, sus nuevos amigos, todo lo que le pasa a él y su vida de colegio. La película y el libro me dejaron llorando y es que en un momento me llegué a identificar con Charlie y es bonito ver cómo alguien que está solo va saliendo de poco a poco de su zona de confort. Es esa etapa de la niñez que luego pasas a la adolescencia, el experimentar, el amor, la familia; la amistad y la salud mental se vuelven más importantes en tu vida, porque te das cuenta de que no todo era inocencia y das ese golpe de realidad al enfrentarte a lo que realmente es. Mención honorífica al profesor Bill por regalarle libros y enseñarle a Charlie lo valioso que es. 
Yo también tuve a mi profesora que me adentro en el mundo de la lectura. Gracias a ella por demostrarle lo maravilloso que son los libros a esa niña de 10 años🥺

A coming of age novel about Charlie, a freshman in high school who is a wallflower, shy and introspective, and very intelligent. He deals with the usual teen problems, but also with the suicide of his best friend.

This book was short but sweet. and really really sad. I connected with Charlie so much and really felt for him. He was such a sweet & thoughtful character despite his troubles. I loved Patrick & Sam as well for being great friends to him throughout the book, even if they didn’t truly understand him at times, as well as his family.

First off, screw the portuguese translation cuz it does not make the ending justice.
Second, I absolutely loved this. It explored so many themes and made every character feel like it had a purpose. And it was just a beautiful study of mental health and loneliness. Found myself relating way more then I thought and probably should to Charlie. Just love this.

Reading this book, I felt a lot of things. I actually shed tears for a couple of times. This book felt so sad and hopeful at the same time. I know a lot of people already read this and I am quite late for discovering how wonderful this is but I am just so glad I got the chance to read this. I know the feeling of always being inside my head. Being there but not really being there. Letting yourself be swallowed by your own mind can really make real damage. That is why I actually cried because at some tiny points, I can really relate myself to Charlie.

This book deals with a lot of issues and reading this makes you want to wish not only Charlie, but to everyone out there who are experiencing this, to please hold on and never let go. To hope that they find a way, any way, to make it. The matters discussed got real dark but I loved that it never forgets to show the hopeful side of things. And I am positive that this book can help a lot of people.

Honestly, I was going to give this book 3 stars because it just wasn’t that interesting in my opinion. I thought it was a sweet book, but it didn’t have a lot of depth. But I really loved the ending, especially the afterword and I thought that was so beautiful that I had to give it 4 stars. 
This book definitely isn’t my favorite, but it was nice and a very easy read so I would recommend it if you don’t know what to read.

I think what I loved most about this book was Charlie. He's one of my favourite characters ever, and I just really appreciated his honest, genuine character. A lot of people compare this book to Catcher in the Rye, and I guess I can see it, but the main characters are so different from each other. Charlie's narrative was so beautiful and true. I sympathized with everything he went through, because he went through them. Watching the film right after just brought the novel to full circle. I'm upset because this book is overrated and the quotes are overused by everyone, and I don't think people really get the book.

I just read one of my new favorite books of all time.
This book is extraordinary. It just is. I knew it would be (the movie is so incredible and also a favorite) but I didn’t know it would have such a huge impact on me.
Charlie is truly a one-of-a-kind narrator. His voice is just so unique and honest and his view of the world is so distinctive. I loved him, I really did. His story is so heartbreaking and beautiful and just everything rolled up into one.
He’s also relatable in so many ways, as are the other characters. They all are dealing with their own issues and stress but they still remain so accessible. I saw my friends in them; I saw my family in his family.
I just loved who he is. I’ve never related to a character like I did Charlie on certain occasions. The love he has for the people he holds so dearly in his life and the way he feels things so strongly; it just really hit home. I’m so intensely affected by moments sometimes that I feel like my heart is going to explode with happiness, like I’m a literal beam of light and Charlie’s voice put words to that feeling so simply and perfectly. The authors writing was so stunning I just want to go back and highlight everything. 
I just really loved this book. I loved these characters and I loved its message. I feel like I want to carry this with me everywhere I go.

im usually not that fond for books with lots of emotions because it doesnt really affect me that much.

but with this book it was different because how charlie saw things reminded me of my younger self. 
although i thought the book wasnt as mature in describing’ as i thought it would be, 
i really felt how depressed charlie was but only because i related to his introvert character.

im giving it a 5 star because it made me cry and i never cried reading a book. 
but maybe it was because i watched the movie first before reading
Logan Lerman really did a good job on telling the story so it made me imagine his acting throughout reading the book.

The movie rlly only did brush the surface of this book. I cried 26 pages into the book. Throughout reading there was definitely a quality of rlly being inside Charlie’s head that the movie wasn’t able to replicate. In the way that’s he’s Very 15 and how his trauma affects his actions as well as his mental. When the book ended before the epilogue it was so heartbreaking. Charlie didn’t understand what he was remembering or even feeling as he was writing and said “I’m so sorry that I wasted your time because you really do mean a lot to me…”

           started this sometime last year when I was with my dad at the hospital before the August lockdown and then I went onto Kafka on The Shore and abandoned this. Holy fuck I read from just before halfway through the book to the end on my phone during most of today. I was going through a slump and it was nice to read and the ending was a bit emotional for me and then the afterword spoke to me especially, which made it extremely worthwhile to read.

Charlie, an adolescent high-school freshman, who has been "dented" by tragedy, is introduced to love, literature, pot, and self-awareness.

This is the first time I watched the movie first before I read the book. It was a very different experience because I kept replaying the scenes from the movie in my head lol. ESPECIALLY THE ICONIC TUNNEL SCENE !!!!!!

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
