Ashley took this trope and completely transformed it into a story that was all her own. Unique! It’s incredibly hard at times to find a book within the bully trope that doesn’t feel repetitive. I admit I was like “Where are we going with this? But I’m here.” and I’m so glad I stayed.

There was a major element that I predicted from the start but it didn’t matter by the time it unfolded. The ending was perfect. It’s rare you get one like this but it fit Aspen and Knox to a tee. Hate Me is definitely one of my top bully romances I’ve read. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting them anytime soon, to say the least.

Wow Aspen and Knox’s story blew me away!! I was hooked from the beginning all the way to the very end. This was not only a bully romance, but so much more than that. The plot is full of suspense and will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I will say that at first you are going to hate Knox’s character, but once you get more into his life, you’ll understand the reason he is the way he is. I pretty much figured out most of the suspense stuff going on, but I was still so invested in these character’s lives. And the ending to me was done wonderfully. I felt it was what was best for both Knox and Aspen. Overall I loved this book and definitely adding it to my forever favorites!

i'm probably being 100% overly generous with my rating on this one, but i can't help it when i ate this shit up in a day. when a book gets me that addicted to getting to the end to see how everything's gonna unravel i have to go with my gut feeling and rate it accordingly.

like i said, i feel like this book isn't deserving of this high rating (because oh boy was it a mess) but alas, i personally find a jade's books highly addicting. was the writing a masterpiece? no. did the plotline even make sense? no. i just had fun reading a bully romance that started off as any other typical bully romance with every single cliché and trope you can expect from the sub-genre, but then it derailed into something completely different, which you're either gonna love or hate. 

while i actually liked the way aspen and knox's relationship developed from being two people who hate each other, to lusting after each other, to working together to get their revenge, i can't say the same as to the actual plotline of this book, or rather the way it was handled. i think my main issue with this book was the fact that a jade could have handled the topic of domestic violence and abuse in a more serious manner to make a deeper impact on us readers, since the whole plotline centered on that theme. but instead, in the end we get this plotting and demise of characters worthy of any telenovela, its unrealistic nature pulling me completely out of the story and making me feel like she was doing a disservice to such a delicate topic. i couldn't suspend my disbelief at all when all these OTT scenes started happening and i think there were many plot holes that weren't addressed either, like what happened to all the girls murdered? they never found out it was that character who killed them? what about the severed fingers in the backyard? the choice of victims was also weird because three of the four victims didn't mean anything to knox, so them being targeted just didn't make sense. and don't even get me started on aspen being totally okay with what they planned for her mother, regardless of how neglected she had always been by her mom.

so while i have my complaints as to the unrealistic ending and how certain topics and scenes were handled, i also read this in one sitting, which tells you it was addicting enough to not stop reading. and i'm not gonna lie, but the last chapters and epilogue had me feeling some type of way; it was nice seeing the growth aspen and knox had. i think this one's amongst the worst books i've read from his author; it felt like she incorporated too many clichés into a single novel and way too many scenes just for shock value but in the end, her books always have something that makes it impossible for me to walk away from.

Knox is the resident bad boy. He projects a lot of things, but what he truly is, is misunderstood. 

“Hate Me”, by Ashley Jade is a standalone forbidden enemies to lovers romance. It surrounds Knox and Aspen, step-siblings thrust together their Senior year of High School. It showcases their deepest insecurities and that the saying goes, “objects in mirror are not always as they appear.” This story was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster. So much happened from start to finish, that I was unable to predict what would happen next. However, some things seemed too extreme or emotionally unattached at some points. Overall, if you’re looking for an enemies to lovers bully romance done differently, this was a quick and easy read!

Hate Me by Ashley Jade is a crazy bully romance with a totally unpredictable plot. It was very dark and twisty and I felt anxious pretty much the whole time I was reading it. 

I liked that it wasn’t typical or at all what I was expecting, but it got too complicated for me. Some of the more extreme actions of the characters didn’t seem to match their development / personality and the ending felt rushed. 

The mystery and uneasy vibe of the book were done very well. This was very dark and I’d recommend it if you’re tired of the usual dark bully romance formula. 3.5 stars 💫💫💫✨
