4/5 🖤 this book is amazing! like, a fangirl’s fantasy, literally. i give it four out of five because, i kinda already guessed the ending(?) since it’s Cinderella’s retelling (in a amazingly geeky way) and the quotes about the ‘impossible universe’ is so freaking true.

2,5 I mean I can see why so many people like it. Our main character is a fangirl like we're all, Starfield means a whole world to her but I can't like her as a character enough. She's weak and can't stand up for herself but obviously strong enough to write an entire blog post about "oh-no-Darien-Freeman-can't-Prince-Carmindor". I prefer Sage though, she is an interesting bad-ass character who I would love to be friend with <3 Some of the romance were cheesy and like too instant.

Modern take on Cindrella with a twist. This is so cute oh my. I find it endearing how geeky the story was. Because I myself is a geek too. The main characters are so cute and funny and their interactions are the one you would look forward to while reading this book. READ THIS! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Book #35 Read in 2017 Geekerella by Ashley Poston This is a take on Cinderella. Elle is a huge fan of a science fiction show and has a well-followed blog about it. She begins texting with someone, not knowing it is the star of the new movie based on the show. Elle has an evil stepmother and evil stepsisters, just like in the original tale. Will she get her happy ever after ending? This was a cute read and high school girls will love the romantic tale. I borrowed this book from the town library.

Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite If Elle is a fangirl for Starfields, I'm a fangirl for this book. Geekerella is some fluffy, cute and a beautiful book with twists and turns on the classic fairy tale of Cinderella. I really loved this book because I could feel every characters emotions through the pages and laugh at every awkward-slash-cute messages from Elle and Darien (they are a very cute couple). It had ALL of the geekiness and fandoms you can get and I was totally into it. And, omg the quote of this book. "Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite" had got my heart. Every universe, planet, sky, stars and all the sparkly beautiful things outside this world, made this book absolutely stunning because fangirling over Starfield is something I would love to do with Elle. 𑁋Elle, we might not know much about each other, and I might not be there, and you might not be here, but I'm glad to share this sky with you. 𑁋Maybe we should start looking up together, ah'blena Once upon a Con.... Elle is a fangirl of Starfield, the sci-fi tv series (which, btw I searched up just in case it might've been real. But sadly, no) and now, determined to win the cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie. So when Magic Pumpkin food Truck and evil step-sister gets involved, it gets a bit complicated. How can she enter the contest without letting her step-mum and step-sisters knowing? Darien, now famous for getting the part for Carmindor in Starfield (which he has ever wanted) is a bit awkward with all the fans shouting for his autograph and selfies. He's a bit stressed with that, and to add more, there's this mysterious RebelGunner blogger who's posting articles about how bad he is at acting the original Carmindor. So when Elle and Darien accidentally get to know each other (I am not saying how they met since it will spoil the book), they start to feel more like themselves as they chat about their life and Starfield. Elle, who is grieving over her cruel words from her step-family and Darien who feels like is wearing a second skin when he is out in public, they start to understand that they're not alone. Because wherever they are, they would always be there with each other, and maybe even the possibility of a chance at falling in love... 𑁋And if we're both looking up at the same sky, how far apart can we REALLY be? What were the odds of us being put on the same slab of rock in this huge universe? I loved Elle. She's a real Geekerella and everything about her seems so, different. Magical. Elle really did remind me of the fangirl I was when I was younger. Where she dreams and lives in a whole different world from where she is, it was special. It was just a small world of hers. And her fathers. She was a strong female character that stood up to any evil-human-being and made her statements loud and clear. She's a fangirl I would totally love. And I did. And Darien? Is a total cheesy and romantic charming prince you could ever imagine in the modern world. He can be awkward and shy, but what I loved most about him is that he doesn't give up on any people he loves. He holds on to any last piece of hope that can change things. And it made me think that falling in love with Elle might've made it a bit of a disaster to him but when you hold onto something so tight, the small left pieces that were missing will always come back. Sage, the other worker for the Magic Pumpkin Food Truck is a loyal friend of Elle. At first, she felt like she was some hard-as-concrete girl and her face signed with DO NOT TOUCH ME but when we get to know about her more, she's a soft teddy bear who is SO loyal and kind. She's a true friend to Elle that I was happy to like her as well. Oh, and she also gets to be a Starfield fan too. Elle taught her some basic info and the magic of fandom. Cal, one of the step-sister is really, really nice. You know, the kind of step-sister you would really like because she's soft and caring. She doesn't say a lot in the beginning but when the story starts to grow, we really get to see more of her. The version Elle thought of Cal is totally different so please, don't hate her because in the end, she's a lovely character. The evil step-mum and the other step-sis is just plain evil Yup, just too cruel to be said in this review so I'll pass with them. Just remember, THEY ARE THE EVIL ONES. Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight… I just want to say, that reading Geekerella was magical. A very special book that I loved and half of this book is also all about the universe and the stars up in the sky. That made it more magical because adding more of those sparkly things made this book shine.I absolutely loved Geekerella and I'm just staring at the night sky, dreaming of Starfield.

** spoiler alert ** Super repovestire Cenusareasa! Mi-a placut foarte mult, recomand!!

Gods, this book made me miss conventions SO MUCH. Of course, this being a Cinderella retelling, I kind of knew where the story was going, but the characters are what made me enjoy this so much. Sure, I didn't like Elle at first - she was the type of fan that I really don't like (view spoiler)[the one who criticises everything that's not the original stuff, ugh give me a fucking break, she reminded me of those star wars fans who hate everything that's not the original trilogy (hide spoiler)], but towards the end, she grew on me. I liked Darien as well, and I like that we got his POV as well - otherwise I might not have liked this book as much as I did. As I said, with this being a retelling, the storyline was rather predictable, but I loved that it took place during a convention and featured a cosplay contest. (view spoiler)[Also one of the stepsisters not being a total jerk surprised me and I actually really love that. (hide spoiler)] In the end, I really enjoyed Geekerella and I will definitely pick up the sequel (because I also already own that).

"Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite" This was a quick romantic-comedy (rom-com) read of two nerds finding themselves and emotionally growing through their favorite TV show that is going to be rebooted. Ashley Poston wrote this Cinderella re-telling to encourage and thank readers, specifically teens, to embrace their nerdy self and/or their fandoms, be it writing fan fictions, collecting Funko Pops of their favorite characters, or "stanning" through social media. Today's teens - in the U.S. - support their favorite books, T.V. shows, and movies through Wattpad, Tumblr, and other social media platforms; Poston understands these fans (or "stans," as they call themselves) can be sometimes unfairly criticized for their enthusiasm, more so if their fandom isn't popular (think Doctor Who and Sherlock), but she understands how much members of those groups unite since they're deemed "weird" by the popular crowd. I also enjoyed her critique of the "it" crowd joining these fandoms - if they become popular - for the moment, not caring about the social issues and commentary addressed in said book(s)/movie(s)/TV show.

initially, i only read this because i wanted to read the wlw sequel and when i read the reviews for that, people said to read this one first in order for the story of the sequel to flow better, and so i did. and i was definitely not disappointed :-) maybe some hets do have rights! this was definitely a really cute read, i just enjoyed it overall. the protagonists were likable and the antagonists weren't, it was genuinely just pleasant to read!

I received this book from NetGalley in return for my honest opinion. I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK. SO. MUCH. This has to be the best book I've read in 2018 so far. It was so good! The awkwardness and the fun were equal, which made the book sooo good! I loved Elle. Not for not standing up to her evil stepsisters or texting a total stranger, but because of who she is. She is just like me, a nerd writing fanfictions. I've never been to a Con, but it's high on my list. Elle was fun, she has been written out very well. You just got to love her. Darien was a bit of a dork as well. Totally a fan of the series but not wanting to admit it to the public. I loved him as a character, but I did not like it that he was kinda falling for his co-star as well. I did not like Jess at all. I loved the idea of Elle's father who started the Con. I sat with tears in my eyes in the part where she goes to the Con to get her passes. Not wanting to spoil anything, but it was so sweet! I just got so attached to the characters on such short notice. Also, totally shipping Darien and Elle, they're way too cute. Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite.

Maybe 3.5 (for sheer pettiness that the author went with "Aragorn or Boromir?" instead of the proper "Aragorn or Faramir?" or even "Aragorn or Eomer?" I mean honestly COME ON)? This was a fun read! Quick, light, slightly You've-Got-Mail-y meets Fangirl's-Guide meets Cinderella. I've read a few geek!AU books recently, it seems, and this one read smoother than most (the references don't... stand out as much. There are certainly many--lookin' at you, Contestant Number Forty-Two--but they don't feel out of place or like they're bashing you on the head shouting LOOK AT ME I'M A NERD). Anyway, definitely recommend this if you're a fan of fun fairy tales and fandoms (especially the ones like Star Wars or Star Trek--Starfield seems to be cut from the same cloth). Also, Charleston! I gotta say that made this an extra fun read because I actually KNOW Charleston (or at least the historic/downtown area, which is where most of the Charleston bits take place). I DO think this book makes fandom out to be more.... wholesome, really, than I've experienced? But on the whole, it was a fun, fairly light read and I enjoyed it.

S/o to Sage who is a badass queen, btw. También tengo que mencionar que, que se declararan su amor con referencias a las cosas de su fandom me encantaba. Y bueno, aunque probablemente no sea un libro memorable, le dejo las 4.5 estrellas porque lo disfruté mucho en el momento. Se las merece.
