Matters are further complicated by Milo's unexpected arrival, and the two form an uneasy alliance as Amory enlists his reluctant aid in clearing Gil's name. As the stakes grow higher and the line between friend and foe becomes less clear, Amory must decide where her heart lies and catch the killer before she, too, becomes a victim. Murder at the Brightwell is a delicious novel in which murder invades polite society and romance springs in unexpected places. Ashley Weaver's debut is a wonderful testament to the enduring delight of the traditional mystery.

Found this incredibly boring with my only hope of it getting better being a possible twist with the husband. When that didn’t happen I just didn’t care.

I received a copy of Murder at the Brightwell by Ashley Weaver for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Amory Ames’ husband has returned form Monte Carlo. Right afterwards, Amory is asked by Gill Trent, her ex, to go with him to the Brightwell Hotel where his sister and her fiancé are. Gill wants Amory to convince Emmeline, his sister, to end her engagement. He also still wants Amory for himself but is unwilling to tell her since she is now married to Milo. Amory knows that going to the Hotel with Gil will be misconceived but she really does want to help Emmeline. Amory’s marriage to Milo is not the best situation and Rupert, Emmeline’s fiancé, reminds Amory of Milo. Shortly after, Rupert is murdered at the Hotel and the prime suspect is Gill Trent. Amory tasks herself with getting to the bottom of the crime without regard for who the killer really is.

This is a very fun interesting mystery novel set in the 1930’s in England. I gave it 4 stars because it was a fun read.
