I really did not like the narrator of this story.  Jane was as unreliable as the narrator of Yellowface, and just as self-serving.  From the description, I thought this would be a Scooby-Doo-like adventure in which a group of friends set out to solve a mystery, but it was not.  There was an extensive subplot about the narrator trying to come to terms with the loss of her father, which did not interest me at all.  The mystery the characters band together to solve was obviously based on the Idaho college student murders, and the murders in Delphi, Indiana were tied in by calling the college town Delphine.  Therefore, the author’s attempt to criticize true crime podcasters for using murder and mayhem as clickbait to generate income fell flat.  The author (or at least her narrator) also had a really snobby attitude toward small town/rural America.  This was a mystery with a predictable twist.  The idea was great, but I did not like how the plot played out.

This was a fun lil mystery on desperate need of a really huge round of edits. A lot was incredibly unbelievable but the most diabolical thing is that the main character eats lasagna TWO SEPARATE, UNRELATED TIMES in the span of sixty pages and I just don't understand why no one was like DONT DO THAT.
