My Review:
Asking For More is the novella following this duo series from Lilah Pace. This is one of my more favorite erotic romance series and I really loved seeing what we get from this novella. And don't you all just love these covers? I love the classic art style to it as that truly fits erotic romance pretty well.
This novella was really endearing and had a couple of spicy scenes for those looking for this type of kink. This kink won't work for everyone though. But you really see how this kink really connects this couple to each other. I actually appreciated how this kink was handled and how we see them living their HFN together. The only downside to these books is the last of a true HEA in these stories. It has a happy for now, but not a I feel like they will get married and live our their lives together necessarily. I wasn't a fan on how they are still living apart, kinda just felt like even though they care for each other, they are together together as much as I would like.
Overall I found Asking For Me to be a true delight. And I can't wait to explore more of this author.

So I liked this more than I thought I would. It was very different from what I was expecting, and even though the ending wasn't exactly what I was looking for, it wasn't a bad cliffhanger...there is one, but you see that there will definitely be more for these two. Another aspect I liked, was seeing how various people react to rape differently. That it affects your mind in ways you don't like but have to find a way to accept it in your life. We see some revealing truths especially for the heroine and she faces certain facets of herself she has kept away hidden until the hero (Jonas) comes onto the scene. This is definitely a erotic romance, but what shocked me was the level of emotion that was displayed (definitely not used to see that in erotic romance), I was drawn into this story, and even though this is not my type of story I like, it had certain qualities that kept me drawn into it. I am really excited for the sequel "Begging For It" and I hope we see these two find a balance in their relationship.

I don't mind a good, dark book every now and then, but I feared the topic of non-consensual sex fantasies might be too much for even me. I'm really glad I gave it a chance though. It definitely won't be for everyone, but I loved it. It was a powerful read about a woman who, while ashamed of her sexual fantasies, finally took a chance and embraced them. I loved the characters in this book. Vivienne was a great heroine. This book was so well-written that I felt all of her emotions. Her shame and desire, and the conflict between the two, came through on every page. Her inner dialogue was fantastic. I liked how she developed over the course of the book, too. Not everyone would work to put her past behind her and exhibit that much trust, all the while embracing this dark part of her that she's coming to terms with. Jonah was amazing. I couldn't get over the juxtaposition of his soft, caring side and the primal side he unleashes during their fantasy playtimes. It was hard, at times, to imagine these two personalities residing in one body. Jonah's own past is dark and his own fantasies have undoubtedly been shaped by it. I loved the way these two characters came together to embrace their desires and ultimately grow as a result of them. Both of them had a lot to lose if their agreement was discovered by anyone else, but the trust they shared ensured neither of them was at any real risk. They were safe to explore these darker sides together. And, if I'm honest, it was incredibly hot when they did. (Which seems like a strange sentence to type because rape fantasy... but I can't deny it.) Without running the risk of getting too spoilery, I should tell you not to expect a lot of romance from this book. Vivienne and Jonah have a connection, undoubtedly, and even share some tenderness at times, but this is definitely not your typical "agreement turns into romance" book. Don't look for that here. Yet anyhow. I have my own ideas about how the sequel will change things between them. This was an eye-opening book for me. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I finished it. Talk about a book hangover. It's really tough to even put into words how this book affected me. But, it definitely did. The writing and character development was incredible. It was a raw, real and honest look into Vivienne's psyche and her past. It's not a happy book, but it's not TOO dark either. (Again, strange because rape fantasies.) I think it was because Vivienne lives a normal life with a network of close friends and we see that. Her friends just don't know everything about her. If I'm honest, I was a bit taken aback by the ending because I wasn't aware this was part of a series. I can't say there's a true cliffhanger, but if you enjoy this first book, you will definitely want the sequel, Begging for It, sooner rather than later. Thankfully it will be released in September, so that's not TOO long to wait. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Holy WOW!!! WOW. What an incredible read. I’m still not quite sure what to make of it, but I know I wholehearted enjoyed this book. When I first got an email about Asking for It, I was SO intrigued. It’s a book about two people who fantasize about non-consensual sex. Rape. A sensitive subject, definitely, but I thought the author handled it excellently. If it’s all in my head, and it makes me come, what’s the harm? (It makes me come hard.) The harm is when the lines between reality and fantasy get blurred. Like they did last night. This book is just… it’s a lot to handle. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel reading a book with this theme, but the author wrote this book so flawlessly that I couldn’t put it down. Vivienne and Jonah’s exploration of their fantasies is nothing short of mind-blowing, mentally and physically. I was intrigued by the blurb, but the moment I started reading, I was hooked onto the story and the characters. “You hate it, don’t you? The fantasy. I do too. But it doesn’t change anything.” Asking for It is provocative. Sexy. Intense. When Vivienne and Jonah start a no-strings relationship in which they get fulfill their fantasies, it was so much hotter than I thought it would be. None of the sex felt gratuitous – it all served a purpose. I got so turned on by the raw, gritty, intense, hot fucking between them, yet the story goes so much deeper than just the enacting of their fantasies. As I got to know Vivienne and Jonah, I became invested in their characters. There are so many layers to them, and so many more to unravel by the end of the book. And just a heads up, Asking for It is not a standalone. I loved how Vivienne and Jonah find a safe place with each other to enact their fantasies. There’s a huge amount of trust involved, which means it’s easy for their hearts to get involved. The romance isn’t quite a romance – feelings develop but they’re not concrete quite yet. There’s a lot of potential for love between Jonah and Vivienne, and I’m looking forward to reading more of them. “You destroy me every time. Completely.” If you’re intrigued by the blurb, then I say go for it. It’s a sensitive subject, but the author handles it with confidence and grace. The writing is absolutely stunning – I’d recommend this book based on that alone. As for the romance, even though there’s not much of it, I’d still recommend giving this a try. I’m a total romance sap, yet I wasn’t dissatisfied by the way the romance played out in this book. It’s slow going, for sure, but I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel to see where the author takes Jonah and Vivienne. 4 stars for Asking for It – it’s a fascinating, promising start to Vivienne and Jonah’s story. Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Asking for More is a follow-up novella to the Asking for It series. Jonah and Vivienne are back – I loved them in Asking for It, was sadly disappointed with them in Begging for It, but I was still excited nonetheless for this novella. I was hoping Asking for More would answer some questions that I still had when I finished Begging for It, but this novella reads more like a recap of the previous two books than anything. There’s not much new information, so while I loved Lilah Pace’s gorgeous writing, I didn’t really see a point to this novella. We do not love the desire we share. But we love each other, and together we’re learning how to own this—our rape fantasies—so that they will never again own us. Vivienne and Jonah are working through the ins and outs of their new relationship, but an accident that leaves Vivienne injured takes them two steps back. Jonah still carries hang-ups over their games, and this accident only stresses out him and their relationship. Add in his sister getting mugged, and Vivienne and Jonah aren’t quite at their HEA just yet. This novella didn’t really add much to the series. There are some hot sex scenes, but they’re not as intense as the ones in the previous books, Jonah still carries guilt, and there is a LOT of rehash. It almost felt like this novella was meant for someone who hasn’t read the series yet, there’s so much summary and recap. I did enjoy reading this – it was quick and sexy, but there wasn’t much else going for it. If you loved Begging for It and the way that book played out, then I feel like you’d like this novella, but otherwise, Asking for More isn’t a follow-up that’s necessary to read. “You’ve changed me. You’ve saved me.” Thanks to the publisher for generously providing me an ARC to review. Quotes are taken from the ARC and are subject to change in the final version.
