I love finding books without searching for something in particular. This book was just like that. I went for it without expectations and was immediately taken by Elisabeth and her hardships and choices. Being tired of the sassy kickass females who have taken over fantasy leading roles, this book has given me a character that intrigues me. Elisabeth is a strong female character in her fragility. She values life and equality of rights. She is altruist, feminine, and delicate. She fights injustice by sacrificing her well-being and happiness. In opposition, the evilest acts and characters take me back to my favorite 1800's literature with a pinch of fairy tale. This book is part 1. It's not a long read, and the language flows smoothly. We can almost hear their voices. When you finish this book, you will want to join Elisabeth in her next decision. My favorite scene is when she picks a flower and uses her power to make it something more.
