The information in this book is fascinating. The writing, however, is not. It reads like a chronicle of extensive research, almost like a list. I read it in very small sections because it was so dry. I feel enriched by the knowledge I gained in reading this book, but the experience was not particularly enjoyable.

Nighttime--the forgotten half of history--spawned a remarkably vibrant culture with its own rules and rituals, scents, sights, and sounds.
