i have liked iakov so much since the first time he interacted with my favorites aka séverin and anaïs in their books—even my friends that read this series can attest of this statement, and how back then he stood with the uniqueness of his character compared to other spearcrest boys. my opinion is still very much the same. 

“Be gentle with me, Kolyuchka,” he says, his voice the low keen of an injured beast. “Hurt me but be gentle, cruel mistress, before I vanish.”

he's just becoming even more likeable with that cruel mistress's line (the one on aurora's reed instagram too)

zahara is as interesting of a character as i remembered her to be. her strings of older boyfriends is a reminder that she got severe trauma of being preyed on, adding her father's carelessness about her, it's a recipe for disaster.

her and iakov's relationship is an unique one. it kinds of remind of seraphina and noah; but because iakov is a far, far, far, very far more interesting character (and he got pov!) than noah had and could ever be. also a bit of evansophie in the category of The Girl who String Their Guy Love Interest Like a Dog Wolf, but zahara and iakov is winning. no question asked. fin. argue with the wall.

conclusion: 
admittedly, i took me almost a week to get past 40% of spearcrest wolf's arc and more than a week to finish it—unlike back then when i read zachtheo's arc, it only took me like less than 24 hours?—but afterwards i just couldn't stop reading. still, for an anticipated read, this is kind of fall in sort of anticlimactic. i was envisioning 5 stars. which didn't happen (to me). it's not at all a bad book, not at all, far from it; it's just not what i expected. despite all of that, though, spearcrest kings and their girlfriends are my family and bits on how they're still great friends (especially sévanaïs, zachtheo, and iakovzaro are basically closer than ever, REAL family) is so so so good. 

i cannot wait for lucawillow's book. it's going to be a game too guessing what's their book title's going to be.
