It was, surprisingly, a good book. It reminded me at times of the movie Mean Girls. I at first didn't like the main character Autumn Falls. I thought she was childish and selfish. Throughout the book she gets better, but she still kind of comes across that way. It's just not as obvious, I feel.

I kind of sympathize with her a bit in the sense that I know how she feels with what happened with her dad. The character that I absolutely love is J.J. He's really funny, charming and kind of quirky/dorky with his "anagram hobby."

The plot was pretty predictable at times. I didn't really like the ending. I kind of expected more and I feel like Autumn didn't have much growth or character development. 

I'd give this book 3.5 stars. It's a fun and cute kind of contemporary teen novel. That's coming from someone who doesn't really like to read that genre much. I'd also say that it's a good read for the "tween" girls age range. The book has like one or two curse words, though.

From my knowledge of Bella Thorne, I know that Autumn Falls is an example where the main character is a self-insert. While I appreciated Bella Thorne's effort of crafting an authentic narrative (I know that Bella Thorne didn't have the easiest childhood and she illustrated this type of struggle through the main character), I found that there are simply too much technical issues in the book (flat characters and predictable plots - to name a few). I'm also kind of baffled why this book is even labelled under the Fantasy genre because when I was reading this, it felt very much like a cliche YA contemporary piece.

A fast paced read with great lessons for teens! When I bought this book years ago it was because I liked Bella Thorne on Disney Channel but now I can honestly say she is a great writer. Already requesting my library to bring in the other two in the series for me to read.

           I really didn't know whether to rate this book with four or three starts... I went back and forth in my head and decided on four because I really liked it most of the time.. but I still have mixed feelings about this book. I feel like the book itself should have been more focused on the awesome idea of a wish granting journal than Autumns School life but I did appreciate that the back of the cover didn't give away the sad death of Autumns father. I hate it when great books give away the whole story on the back of the book. Half the time I can predict the plot and ending just from the "sneak peek". More like a dead giveaway.

🔺 I remember when I was reading Michelle Schustermans second installment in the I Heart Band series (I read the back before selecting it) and once I started reading it, I realized I already knew what was going to happen even though the author was leading to believe it wasn't. It made me so mad because the book really was good. But anyways that was completely off topic (mostly) and Back to this book!🔻


 I truly believe this book would have been written better Autumn had been in eighth grade, maybe ninth. From reading the back I really expected her to be in 7th or 8th grade, definitely not 10th! I am still debating on whether or not to get the second book in this series.. comment what you think if you miraculously got through probably my longest Goodreads reviews ever that I really didn't even mean to write!
