Fable for the End of the World

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook, and it was a solid 4 until the end. The ending almost made me drop it to a 3 because of how lackluster the buildup of the narrative felt to then just kinda fizzle out. I believe the author wanted to inspire hope, but I’m not sure she accomplished that. I think she illustrated keeping “integrity” and survival within the bounds of a system you’re trapped in. A lot of themes were also hand fed to the reader in character internal monologues. I did enjoy the read, but I fear the ending did not land.
