I absolutely loved this! The world is great, obviously well-though out and given a lot of depth, despite the short length of the book. The gender system, especially, was so interesting and I just loved seeing a different way for gender to get assigned and defined. I really loved Sohmeng's introspection as she considered where she fit - in her hmun, among the sãoni, in the world at large. The sãoni were awesome and I kind of want to join them in a simple, migrational, and genderless existence as well. I'm super intrigued by the ending and all of the historical implications tied up in it. This was generally just a really thoughtful book as well as being an adventure. Absolutely can't wait for the sequel in July!
