ugh so cute. i love the found family trope and hockey players

** spoiler alert ** this book had sm potential but i feel like it was ruined with the “awk-weird” stuff and the fact that she says a fact literally every second 😐 it doesn’t make her quirky. and i literally forgot she was pregnant half the time. cole’s confusion was justified since he had been in an on and off relationship with marti and didn’t know whether he should move on. overall it was okay ig.

** spoiler alert ** 4.5 Stars! The storyline was a bit slow in the beginning. It was hard for me to understand the Heroin at first but I push myself through and through and guess where it gets me? You’re right—I’m In love with it. It was amazing. I’ve always love sport romance with a independent woman although it’s hard for me to understand Tess at first but she was a strong woman for me. The way she stood on her own feet while the world around her fucked her up. And the Hero? Don’t go there. The all I’m in control here because this is my routine. He was an organize man, clean freak but a good in bed? Christ! Who wouldn’t want that as a baby daddy? 👀 Highly Recommended :)

3.5? Cute, a little predictable, but fun.

This was my first Avery Flynn book, but it definitely won't be my last!! Awk-weird is such a sweet and heartwarming story. Once I started reading I couldn't stop and I have to say even though I loved Tess and Cole, Khan the cat has earned a special place in my heart, haha. A story where two people meet, sleep together and the woman ends up pregnant could turn out really cheesy, but this one was a lot of fun. Tess grew up with her mother who ended up leaving her with relatives when something else came along. That wasn't always a pleasant experience either and she doesn't really feel like she belongs or is loved. Tess things even her closest friends are only temporary and treats them that way so she won't get hurt. Cole is a hockey player who follows a routine, even down to what he eats every morning. He's stuck in his ways and has a hard time when things go differently. Even the woman he's with is on again off again and while it bothers him, he's pretty confident it will all go according to plan. Moving a lot as a child, he came to depend on routing to keep normal and it kind of stuck. Awk-weird brings two totally different people together who end up being more similar than they think. When Tess ends up pregnant, both of their lives change and it's fun seeing them slowly get close. I loved that it felt like both of them really needed each other. Tess got Cole out of his routine at times without him feeling bad and Cole slowly starts breaking down Tess' emotional walls. There are many cute, sweet, heartwarming and even steamy moments between the two of them. More often than not, I had a smile on my face while reading Awk-weird. I think near the end it took a bit too long before things started wrapping up. To me it felt like the will they, won't they moments dragged on just a bit too long. Of course, things don't always go easy, but this felt forced. Don't get me wrong, I loved the ending, I just think it should've gotten there just a little bit sooner. Also, Tess starts giving random facts when she's nervous or uncomfortable and I loved the little bits of random information I learned while reading this book. It was Tess' way of coping, but it was really entertaining! It must've been fun looking up all of the facts. If you're looking for a heartwarming romance that will make you laugh out loud, that also has a steamy side, definitely pick up Awk-weird. Khan the cat will be very happy if you do!

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. The first book in this series — Parental Guidance — was one of my favorites of 2019, so I had super high hopes for this follow-up. I wasn't let down. The surprise baby trope isn’t one of my go-to’s, but I still loved this book. Tess and Cole’s story was cute and sweet. He was super swoony and she was my favorite type of quirky, awkward (er, awk-weird?) heroine. A pretty light read, I giggled my way through a good chunk of it. I love this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Favorite Quotes: "As my aunt Haven once said, I'm an acquired taste and usually best in small doses." "This isn't temporary for me; it hasn't been since the first time I saw you. You changed everything, and I'm so lucky you did."
