It took me awhile to get through this but i do admit i enjoyed the way the twist was written and when it finally picked up with the revelation. I won't say this is as good as The Therapist however, which I really purely enjoyed.

This book was… meh. It was super easy to see what was going to happen, and the characters weren’t anything special. I’d say just read Behind Closed Doors and skip this one.

This book was twisty and turn-y and I couldn't put it down. I try really hard to not add any spoilers in any reviews I write, so I can't really say a whole lot more than that! After reading this novel I sat and questioned every relationship in my life...

Not as thrilling and fast-paced as her first novel, but The Breakdown had me HOOKED. For people who need constant action, this might not be for you. The tension was subtle, Cass's memory deteriorating little by little making her an unreliable narrator. That is what mostly kept me in though - I had to know what was going to happen. I kept switching back and forth between feeling sorry for her and being so annoyed with the entire situation but it still did not deter me. I did sort of figure it out a bit before the big reveal, but it didn't take away from me still gasping out loud when the conclusion finally happened! 

I would recommend this as an audiobook!

3.5 latte's to The Breakdown. I really enjoyed this one, but most of it was slow, in my opinion. The plot didn't really hook me, despite having everything to lure me in. It wasn't until things started to get pieced together that I found interest in it. And the ending was really good with all the revelations that came to light. 

This being a mystery, I couldn't quite believe Cass being mentally unstable. I do admit the author set it up very nicely with her mom's background. Still, it wasn't enough to let me believe it. Also, a few things happened in the beginning that had me questioning the motives of a few characters and in the end, I was right. 

The suspense wasn't really there for this book as I had hoped. It was still a bit entertaining.

           One of the best mystery/thrillers i’ve read recently. kept me entertained and hooked the entire time and maybe i’m just oblivious but i really didn’t see Rachel involved until the reveal. I did think Matthew was suspicious the whole time. john deserved better.

omg what an amazing book The breakdown was!! I was so excited to read this after reading The Couple Next Door and once again I was utterly hooked from beginning to end!!

3.5: It's hard to say too much about this book without giving something, or even everything away. What I can say is that it was nowhere near as good as "Behind Closed Doors" which I loved. I didn't understand the protagonist's actions most of the time. The book was largely repetitive and I almost even didn't finish reading it but I'm glad I made it through to the end. It all added up is all I can say.

Ends pretty abruptly for how long the book is, but I have to say I didn't see that plot twist coming! I'd recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good, calm thriller. You never know what lurks under all that domestic bliss...

Cass is having a bad night and things get worse for her. A woman that she saw stopped at the side of the road, a rainy , creepy dark road, winds up dead.

This is exactly the type of book I dive into and do not want to stop until I know what really happened. Cass's life just seemed to fall apart page after page, I kept thinking how can things get worse for this character? The author really took me on a twisted journey with this one. Cass is now paranoid and is having trouble remembering things. I found this book to be a bit spooky , not one that I would want to read alone in the house at night. All throughout the book I did have some theories that I was right about, I kind of saw where this one was going but I was not one hundred percent sure and that is one of the things that I loved about the book. The fact that it made me question almost every characters real intentions toward Cass was another good thing this book had going for it. I had no idea who Cass could trust, maybe she was the guilty one , I just had no clue.

Towards the end of the book there is a lot of suspense and when I finally find out what really happened,  I am not surprised but then  something else happens and I am surprised. It's just that type of book.This review was originally posted on Cindy's Book Binge

This weekend, in between finishing this book and another thriller- You by Caroline Kepnes which was insane- I watched a person living in the walls horror film. I won't tell you what it's called because the twist of this movie and others like it depends on surprise.  What I can say is that I was immediately scared when I realized this, because until then the film was just another scary movie about ghosts. My fiance asked me why I was suddenly so much more frightened and I tried to explain that a person was a fear I could get behind.  

I think that's why I'm so drawn to the current domestic/suburban thrillers trend. The idea that real danger is so close to home in these seemingly perfect settings really keeps my attention.  I won't say too much about The Breakdown, because I did struggle with getting through the middle, but I'm glad I stuck around for the ending. This novel is nowhere on the level of crazy as B.A. Paris' Behind Closed Doors, but there's a lot enjoy here.  The mystery is simple but an unreliable narrator is always a good draw. I don't want to say too much, because I think this is a book that is improved the less you know about it prior to reading.

The twistiness of this book was fabulous. My one complaint is how long the middle dragged out. This book could probably have been about 50 pages shorter to ramp up the tension and keep us from dragging.

I COULD NOT put this book down. It was so good I don't even know how to convey how good it was. I'm not ashamed to say I lost a lot of sleep finishing this book because I literally could not pull myself away from it. This is by far one of my favorite mystery books. It's fast paced, witty, and literally you have no idea what the ending is going to be. SO so damn good.

I enjoyed reading a book where the main character suffers from mental illness (or does she not?), all the events in this book messed with my head so much, that I couldn't trust everything I read, everyone looked suspicious. So I can say, that I flew through this book in a few days. 
However the main character was so annoying and whiny, that at some points I even thought of dnf'ing it, even though I liked the plot (if you know what I mean). 
Also I wasn't satisfied with the ending, somehow it felt too rushed and not very convincing. After all that built up of the plot, I hoped for some shocking and amazing ending, but for me it was a little but anticlimactic. 
I do recommend this book, if you want something fast and easy to spend your boring evening faster.
