Bad Boss

Bad Boss

Stella Rhys — 2018
He was supposed to be my first and only one-night stand. He was definitely never supposed to become my boss....I had always been the good girl - the workaholic with every second of her life mapped out to a tee. Then I got trapped in an elevator with Julian Hoult. He was... irresistible. Sophisticated sex in a crisp white shirt. His voice alone dropped me straight to my knees. What was I supposed to do? Well....I can tell you what I was definitely not supposed to do.I was not supposed to run into him ever again. I was not supposed to be desperately unemployed, and I was definitely not supposed to accept his dirty little job offer. But I couldn't resist. As CEO of the Hoult Media empire, Julian will stop at nothing to get what he wants. So for his next venture with Manhattan's most lecherous billionaires, he's hired me to play the role of bait. And while my official title is that of Executive Assistant, my actual job requires low tops, tight skirts and flaunting everything I've got till his clients are easy to bend - till they can barely think for themselves anymore. It's sleazy and wrong. Against everything I've worked for. But with Julian as my audience, I can't help but enjoy every second. Thanks to him, I'm embracing the bad, and I swear...I've never in my life felt this damned good.*** BAD BOSS is a full-length standalone romance ***

Actual rating 3.5-3.75 stars “By the way, you’re good at this,” he whispered. “What?” “Making me happy.” I really had a good time reading this one but I will say it lost me by the end which is why I can't bring myself to give it a full 4 stars. This is really one hot and steamy office romance with the right amount of emotional depth. I really like how much Sara and Julian open up to each other about really hard things connected to their past. I knew I enjoyed their interactions right from the beginning because yeah that was hot as hell, I almost had to read the page again because of his response to overhearing her phone conversation. However, hot interactions aside I didn't fall for them truly after seeing Julian take care of her when she had her panic attacks. It's those surprising emotional moments that convinced me they were the perfect match. I also really loved how they challenged each other and they had some good and forth with a lot of their interactions. Which is not easy with someone like Julian Hoult who is moody and closed off to even the people closest to him, but Sara is able to get through and see his true nature underneath all those walls. My biggest complaint is this book had me up until closer to the end, it all just felt really abrupt. Their conflict I just felt like could've been done so much better and it was so disappointing that even their reunion didn't feel rewarding. For me, it all felt forced and that took away a lot of my excitement I had for most of this book. Otherwise, this is my first book by Stella Rhys and I still wouldn't hesistate to read more in the future.
