Bad Romeo
Reviews

Primera lectura: Septiembre 2015.

In continuing to reread some of my old favorites while I’ve been home, Bad Romeo was next on the list. Cassie and Ethan are two actors who have a past from acting school and the story flips back and forth from present day where they are once again sharing the stage, and back to the past when they were in school together. The trouble is Ethan broke Cassie’s heart and years later she isn’t sure how she can act with him again. Pros: • Cassie and Ethan- I have always loved their chemistry and their humor together and it is what constantly draws me back to this book. • The situations that Rayven puts them in is actually hilarious and I love the contrasting relationships they have in the past and the present. Cons: • Pacing- I think this is because I’ve already read this book a few times and was anxious for them to get together, but something about the pacing this time drove me nuts it just seemed so slow. However, I feel I can’t take points away for this because I know in the past I loved how it switched back and forth. Overall, I’m keeping my 5/5 star rating for Bad Romeo because it is a book I have come back to again and again and I love the characters and the writing each time. Broken Juliet is up next!

Twitter || Blog || Pinterest || Tumblr || Instagram || Facebook

4.75 WHAT IS GOING ON!? That can't be the end! I don't know if I loved this book as much as I did because of the story or because when I pick it up I thought I was going to hate it. Whatever, who cares because I ended up falling in love with the story. It's the classical bad boy with commitment issues and the sweet innocent virginal girl. But really she wasn't that innocent (like seriously not at all) and he had a roller coaster of feelings! A guy that I loved because of his perspective of Romeo.., oh yeah and by the way this it's NOT a re-telling of Romeo and Juliet. (I thought it was, one of the many reasons I thought I was going to hate this book) There was something about the story that just kept me hanging a whole afternoon, there was something about the dynamic of the characters that I just loved, and I seriously can't believe that the author gave me that ending! There's definite mature/explicit content and I'm not really a big fan of it (I read a lot of NA but mostly because of the age of the characters) but I think that it wouldn't be he same without it because it wouldn't make Cassie so special as she was. It seems to me that there is a second book, and if it's not a sequel I may cry. Anyways if you are into NA and want to read something light and fun with a bit of drama , this is your book

It was nice, it made me laugh but the main character was way too horny...

This book destroyed me!!!

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads . I'll admit, the cover is the first thing that drew me into this book. It's so colorful and raw and I just love it. (I hope this one is released in paperback because it will look just lovely on my shelves.) I'd seen a few mixed reviews for it, but I'll tell you, from the minute I opened it, I knew I was going to love it. Bad Romeo is written from Cassie's POV in both the present day and the past, when she and Ethan first worked together. While I would have undoubtedly loved to get Ethan's POV during some scenes, I think this was a great way to discover their past and why Cassie was so against working with him again. They had quite a past. Some of it was great. Some was far from good. But at the same time, I always felt like it was obvious they belonged together so I just wanted them to work their differences out already. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I really liked Cassie. Despite her "star" status, I found her easy to relate to and, generally likable. She was a bit of a doormat in the beginning, so I had to applaud her character development throughout the book. She became stronger and less inclined to please those around her at the expense of her own happiness. She was maybe a bit more stubborn than I personally wanted, especially when it came to Ethan, but I definitely understood why. She didn't want to get hurt again and I can respect that. It took awhile for Ethan to grow on me and I think that's because I never knew what was going on in his head. I only had Cassie's spin to go on, which didn't always portray Ethan and his motivations in the best light... or, perhaps, the most realistic one. By the end of the book, I had a total crush on Ethan. He'd learned from his mistakes. He was a good guy. I have a difficult time classifying Bad Romeo. It's part second chance romance, part friends to lovers and part antagonistic romance. The mixture is straight-up perfect. Especially when you add in all the sexual tension. And my god, there was sexual tension. The chemistry between Cassie and Ethan was off the charts. The "will they? won't they?" back and forth kept me hanging on to the edge of my proverbial seat throughout the entire book. I just wanted to lock Cassie and Ethan in a room and hope the dam would finally break. I'm not generally a fan of the tease, or THIS MUCH of the tease, but I loved it here. It WORKED. I will warn you, Bad Romeo has one hell of a cliffhanger. One that left me desperately trying to turn the pages on my iPad to see if there was more. There wasn't. I need more. Broken Juliet seriously cannot get here soon enough. I need to know what happens next! April is way, way too far away. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

And you may think why such an amazing book have a 4-stars rating I'll try to tell you, it's just a point of view It's Cliché, but not to much it's original, i have to say, but it reminds me so much of certain book, but i don't know But the only thing i really do know, it's that even if it is just a Cliché or even if it is a Teenagers fiction romantic (maybe) book even if it is ONLY that it makes you TOTALLY FALL IN LOVE so deep with all the characters and theirs emotions it's a well written book, it goes to the past and the present back and forward and the best part of books like this is when you don't get lost between times when you don't have to say "it's this the present or it was 6 years ago" It's the perfect combination, and I totally FELT IN LOVE

I admit that this was a cover buy. The cover jumped out at me and I wanted to get it because it is so pretty but then I read the description and it just sounded so good that I just had to get it. Anyway, I just couldn't put this book down. The story is so darn good that I just had to keep reading. I am so glad I bought this in ebook but I think I will have to buy it in hardcover because this is one pretty cover that I will love to have on display in the bookcase. book 2 in the Starcrossed series is coming out in April and I am so happy that I was able to get a eARC. I will be reading and reviewing Broken Juliet soon.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life I’m sad to say I’m… disappointed with Bad Romeo. I had such HIGH expectations for it – I mean just look at that blurb! And that cover! I was dying to read Bad Romeo ever since I heard about it, and plus, so many people were loving it. But when I read it, everything just felt flat – I enjoyed it, but I didn’t LOVE it as much as I was expecting too. I just couldn’t connect with the characters, and they annoyed me more often than not. And I’m such a HUGE fan of the second chance romance trope that Bad Romeo should have been easy to love, but it wasn’t. It was entertaining enough some of the time that I wanted to finish it, but once I did, I just felt sad that I didn’t end up loving it as much as I wanted to. I don’t often read books that are set in the theater, so it’s always nice to read about something different. Leisa Rayven did an incredible job drawing me into the world of acting and theater. Honestly, the writing was the best part about this book. The characters, on the other hand…. Not so great. At first, I was really looking forward to getting to know Cassie and Ethan, to knowing how their love grew and fell apart. The book is written in a way that past and present are intertwined. In present day, Cassie holds a fierce hate for the boy who broke her heart three years ago. When Ethan comes back into her life wanting to win her back, she wants nothing to do with him, of course. I admired how Cassie held her own against him, but then the more I started reading, the less I ended up liking her. She was just way too bitter and wishy-washy about her feelings for Ethan. I mean, I get that they still have chemistry together even though he broke her heart and she hates him for it, but the whole back-and-forth thing between hating him and wanting him got tiring real fast. I liked present-day Ethan a whole lot better than present-day Cassie, but his past self tainted him in my eyes because I absolutely HATED past-Ethan. I honestly couldn’t see anything good or redeeming about him. He was a total dick to Cassie and not at all hero-worthy. And his reasons for being a dick? They were so eye-roll worthy and clichéd. Past-Cassie was even worse than past-Ethan. Ethan was an asshole, yes, but she let him walk all over her, all so she could have his dick. I’m oversimplifying, of course, but thinking about past-Cassie just angers me. I didn’t feel a spark between Cassie and Ethan when they first met and I just couldn’t see how they fell in love. Another thing that annoyed the hell out of me was that plot-wise, NOTHING happened until the very end. I felt like there was no progression in the plot or character development (at least until the very, very end). When I reached the end, I just felt like there was no point to this book. Overall, I was unimpressed with Bad Romeo. It didn’t meet my expectations, but the writing was good enough that I enjoyed some parts of the book. I didn’t HATE this book, but I definitely didn’t love it either. Will I read the sequel? …I think I will. Despite not liking Cassie or Ethan, I still do want to know how their story will end. And hopefully, book two will be more engaging than this first book was. Quotes are taken from the ARC and are subject to change in the final version.
