Admittedly, it was the cover that made me want to read this book. This was my first zombie book, so I was a little apprehensive as of what to expect from it, but it really surprised me. Kate Grable is a nerdy senior, and she knows it. All she wants is a date with the super-hot football player, Aaron. So, when the football team start having bad, zombie-like, reactions to the 'performance enhancers' that Coach gave them, it's Kate's job to fix it. Before anyone else gets hurt. Bad Taste in Boys was kinda strange. I didn't totally understand all of it, but I enjoyed all of it. It reminded me of a cheesy horror movie, that no really understood but, at the same time, loved. Kate was an awesome, kick-ass heroine, and I can't wait to read more about her crazy antics with the strange in Carrie Harris's next book. Full of laughs, scares and a tiny bit of grossness mixed in. I highly recommend this book as a way to get into YA zombie literature.

OMG! I didn't think zombies could be so funny, but I laughed through a lot of this book. Kate may have been a nerd above all nerds but she was a funny one. I'm trying to think of a zombie book that I've read, but I think this is probably my first. I did try The forest of hands and feet and never got around to finishing it. I feel bad about it. Maybe, I'll go back to it sometime. OMG! I didn't think zombies could be so funny, but I laughed through a lot of this book. Kate may have been a nerd above all nerds but she was a funny one. She had a comeback for pretty much everything. I think I about died out laughing when I read the whole foot fiasco. She wasn't your typical hot girl, or that girl everyone wanted to be. I actually enjoyed that part a heroine who is regular. Nothing special about her. Aaron was the hot guy on the team that Kate kind of liked, but it wouldn't be YA without a little crush because let's face it. We all have crushes, and most of ours are fictional. He wasn't like Dimitri-Swoon-worthy (no one ever will be), and I wasn't all that thrilled with him to be honest he was just some guy. Jonah was Kate's little brother I adored him and his part in the book trying to help Kate fight the fight with his fake sword, and getting his geeky friends in on it. I was a little sad to see how it ended. I was hoping for some big breakthrough I guess I don't know. I think it could have been better, but who am I to judge right? I'm not a writer, and I know it must be hard. All in all it was a light-paced funny zombie book, and I'm not sure how many of those are out there. It's definitely a book that stands well on it's own, but like I said it has another book coming out next year. A new adventure awaits us with Kate, and I'm ready to see where that takes us. :) The second book is titled Bad Hair Days and here's what goodreads has on it: Kate Grable takes on werewolves, nanotechnology, blueberry flavored astronauts, and killer coconuts in her next adventure. Someone's been a very bad zombie. Kate Grable is horrified to find out that the football coach has given the team steroids. Worse yet, the steriods are having an unexpected effect, turning hot gridiron hunks into mindless flesh-eating zombies. No one is safe--not her cute crush Aaron, not her dorky brother, Jonah . . . not even Kate! She's got to find an antidote--before her entire high school ends up eating each other. So Kate, her best girlfriend, Rocky, and Aaron stage a frantic battle to save their town . . . and stay hormonally human. So I hate to admit, the cover of this book played a big part in my reading it. I mean, the frosted lips? It was eerie and creepy, and made me wonder what it meant. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it means; I have no idea what the cover had to do with the book. I read it, but don't get it. Not that that's so important I suppose. It just sort of bugged me. This book...well, I didn't have great expectations for it. Zombies aren't really my thing so I wasn't really picturing anything too spectacular. In fact, after watching the book trailer, I had very low expectations. The video was SO corny it was hilarious. So instead of turning me off, it made me want to read it even more. Everyone needs a mindless read every once in a while, right? (ha, mindless...zombies...xD) And that's exactly what this is: a mindless read. But that doesn't mean it was bad. I actually sort of liked Kate. She was smart, and mildly amusing. She was a tad naive at times, but when your school is full of zombies crying, "Braaaaiiiinnnnsss!" and are trying to chew off your leg, then you're allowed to be clueless and stupid. Aaron wasn't too bad of a guy either. I, however, LOVED Jonah. His little crush on Kate's friend Rocky was adorable, even if he was 15 years old and a total dork xP I did laugh a couple times throughout the story, especially at the Twilight puns. There were two of them; those were my favorite parts honestly. The rest of the jokes were okay, sometimes I laughed just at how silly they were, not because they were actually funny. I didn't want to give this book a harsh review, because it wasn't horible. It was enjoyable, even if pointless. I knew what it would be like going into it, so I wasn't surprised. It was actually a bit better than I thought. Overall, I don't think I'll read another zombie book, at least, anytime soon. I feel like they'll all be like this one and while it was fun, I want something with a little substance...and a lot less puking...(gross!)
