My Review:

I never did an original review of this one. Although its interesting that I never did. I just want to do a quick recap of my thoughts of a reread I did for this one. So this isn't your average contemporary romance. I would say its a blend of women's fiction and contemporary romance. Its truly an endearing read but has aspects to it that might not work for all readers. I loved re reading this classic story. And recommend doing it in audio if you can. And yes it has a love triangle, but its not a full love triangle, as you can sense who she truly ends up with. And it does give background information on Hardy Cates, and sets up the story "Blue Eyed Devil". And loved seeing a heroine doing a grovel. It was quite refreshing.

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. Sugar Daddy, and the rest of the Travis Series, has been on my TBR since shortly after I first fell in love with Lisa Kleypas’ historical romances. I wasted no time scooping them up in hardcover format (99¢ each at the used bookstore, y’all!) and adding them to my shelves. But, as intrigued as I was by them and as many friends had loved them, I just never got around to reading them. Thankfully, my friend Ginger decided to host a buddy read for the first two books and I wasted no time joining in. One of the biggest compliments I can pay a book is to say it was addicting or unputdownable. It’s been awhile since I had a book capture me quite like Sugar Daddy did. Since I had nearly a month to read the two books, I decided to read three chapters a day and spread it out. That lasted exactly one day. The second day I picked up Sugar Daddy, I read 12 chapters. The third day, I read the entire second half of the book. So much for savoring, huh? 😂 But I’m not kidding when I say I did not want to put it down once I started. I simply couldn’t get enough of Liberty’s story. What I don’t want to do is run the risk of spoiling the book for you if you’ve not yet read it, so I’m not going to talk about plots or pairings. I understand now why friends insisted I go into Sugar Daddy blind *and* read the series in the order it was released. This is romance, even if it read at times a little like women’s fiction to me. The romance might not be exactly what I expected, but it was perfect. The story was gripping, the writing rich and indulgent. I literally felt like I was living it right alongside Liberty. Her emotions were my emotions, her experiences my experiences. Sugar Daddy was as much about Liberty’s development as it was the romance and I was there for every single bit of it. I’m already so excited to start Blue-Eyed Devil. My goal is to wait for the weekend, but I’m not sure I’ll make it that long. I’m in love with the Travises and everyone else in this series. But I’ve never regretted the things I said nearly as much as the words I left unspoken. I had experienced sex without love, and love without sex, and now I wanted nothing to do with either of them. When you’re walking through the darkness, you can’t depend on anything or anyone else to light your way. You have to rely on whatever sparks you’ve got inside you.
