Addressed my doubts about doubt. Gentle but firm, Piper speaks to both those who have struggled with doubts as well as those who haven’t. I related greatly to many of his struggles as a Christian with plenty of ‘head knowledge’ but still doubting or suppressing my doubts. 

He doesn’t just give sentimental and comforting adages, but spends time describing all the symptoms of the problem and helpfully exploring and suggesting the roots of it. He defines who God is, who we are and what the nature of faith is then. He might seem repetitive but if anything I think it is intentional to really prevent the reader from skimming through things rather than taking the facts to heart. It definitely does not replace solid theological study of God and faith but if anything encourages it, especially the weary doubter if he is willing to listen and contemplate his words humbly.
