If you liked New Moon by Stephanie Meyer this book is for you. Essentially our two main characters who rode off into the sunset in love and full of hope in the first book immediately have it all come crashing down in the second book. I mean first you have an explosion, then the stupid ex comes back into the picture stirring up jealousy, then you have insecure Wes taking off because he has to do the leaving so he won't get hurt, then Rain is just depressed and checked out for a whole week, until yippee Wes saves the day by coming back and making all of Rain's problems go away because his d*ck is magical or something.

Finally, you have the stupidest ending and cliffhanger to a book I've ever read that had me going "What did I just read?!". First off Carter and his family are straight up assholes in the end which seems a bit out of character, but whatever. So now Wes is going to be executed to save Rain's life, and apparently he knows she's pregnant before she or the readers know? Like how? Why? Where did that come from? I mean I had an inkling in the first book that it was a possible plot point, but this just came out of nowhere. Honestly, this book was slow, depressing, frustrating, and MADE NO DAMN SENSE!

I hope it is just a case of second book syndrome, and that the third book will be better... but honestly I don't know at this point.
