I absolutely devoured this book! I heard so many good things about this book so I did have pretty hugh expectations and this book definitely didn’t disappoint!

So I haven’t read many post apocalyptic books before so I found this storyline to be a very refreshing read for me. I really really enjoyed the way this book was formatted with the two different perspectives, and the style the book was written in. I also really loved all the different topics that were present in this book (such as depression, grief, drug abuse, ect) and I think each topic was handled very respectfully. I found the plotline to be a super interesting take on a post apocalyptic world and I found myself wanting to know what was going to happen throughout the entire book!

Now for the romance, I was really surprised that I loved it as much as I did. I would say the romance between Rain and Wes is a hate to love/insta love romance. As you probably know, hate to love is my favourite romamce troupe so I thoroughly enjoyed those aspects of their relationship. As for the insta love portion we saw, I was actually so surprised that I enjoyed it. I don’t like insta love in books because it is extremely rare that I find a book that portrays that troupe in a believable and enjoyable way. With that being said, I thought that this book executed that type of romance so so well! It could be because the atmosphere of the book and people’s actions being almost more “acceptable” with emotions being hightened by the knowledge that the world is about to end that made this romance so incredible and believable for me, but either way I loved it.

Overall, I cannot wait to jump into the next books in this series!! The ending definitely left me wanting more!

This is a book about two extremely flawed characters using each other to survive the apocalypse until they somehow fall in love. Let me start by saying the first 50 pages were awful, and I did not want to continue reading. However, I pushed through for sh*ts and giggles to see if there was anything redeemable about this book. There is... the writing was solid, the atmosphere was immersive, and the plot ended up being more original than on first glance. However, the writer made some very iffy choices in regards to characters and character actions. First off I believe that people are diverse enough that they would react to the apocalypse in different ways other than get high, get violent, or the weird lifer/survivalist categories. Additionally, Wes is an extreme a**hole and knows it! Rain is just checked out in a drug induced lala land of ooh he's pretty proportions. Honestly, it was hard to like the characters or believe there could be a romance.

However, the more you learn about the trauma the characters have suffered and why they act the way they do it makes easier to want them to find happiness. Additionally, the steamy scenes were pretty good. However, no matter how much I liked the steamy scenes it could never make up for the fact that Wes repeatedly refers to Rain as a b*tch in his head... and then all of a sudden they fall in love. Kind of hard to believe... but I can respect that these two characters found solace in each other when they had nothing else.

I don't know if I recommend this book... maybe?

 fanfiction, you can't convince me otherwise. Emphasis on wattpad because I respect fanfic, but you know what kind of fanfic I'm talking about when I refer to it as wattpad. 
Let me say that I do enjoy the so-called "trashy" books. Yes, I'm here for the non-sense, yes I'm here for the insta-attraction, I'm here for the banter and the craziness. However.... 
When I found this book as I scrolled through different recommendation threads, it called my attention immediately. Apocalypse? Romance? Sci-fi? Count me in! 
I was excited and I know to what I was getting into, nonetheless, the moment I read the  first  twenty one pilots reference (yes, first, because there are so many ) the switch inside me changed, and I guessed what was about to come, but I still kept reading because, hey! I could be wrong, I could just be judging this for a simple dumb sentence... I wasn't misjudged, I was completely on point

It is not that this book is bad , it had great potential but the pacing was terrible! I know we only have 3 days until the world ends but bro... it had been less than an hour and they were already ready to do crazy stupid stuff to protect the other, like... make it make sense. This is one of the most horrible cases of insta-love that I've read ever. I understand the attraction, and on the first quarter of the book I let it slide because, damn that kind of attraction seems to happen, right? It's not like it's unheard of, however, when it became clear that this pointed towards deeper feelings I just gave up.

I'm not going to lie, I skimmed a lot of the book (most of the dream sequences) and things just seemed to happen out of nowhere, and it just had a pace that only made sense to me if it was written in fic format (once again, nothing against fics but there are things in writing that you can only get away with in fic format) and I don't know it felt just... I don't know. 

The plot twist was good. I think someone more invested with the story might have gotten it, but I was surprised, mostly because I spent most of the book screaming at these two: you've known each other for three days!!! 
I would have put the plot twist before because the book says to be about the end of the world and all that jazz, but the story mostly happens on houses as they're hiding or looking for food, which is understandable but... I guess it is because it is so short (another detail that makes me think that this is like a fic for the weird cut of the story)

Listen I know it seems like I hated it but I promise you I've read so much worse, this just wasn't my cup of tea (I mean this book has a 4 stars rating????) I might read the next one just because I'm curious how the whole "brainwashing" thing will play out but just because I think the plot is interesting, not because of the characters.

Praying for Rain has a really interesting concept and I couldn't wait to see how the author turned this into a story. I have to start off by saying that I loved this author's writing. They way she wrote this I flew through the story. I enjoyed the pacing. 

I can't imagine thinking the world is going to end and all the chaos surrounding you. Everyone keeps dreaming about the four horsemen and they're not the nicest dreams. It must be terrifying living with that, losing power, having no access to anything around you and no chance at escaping. Of course, people panic and start destroying everything.

Our main character Rain is done with everything. She's actually counting down the days until the world ends, because she's done with everything. A lot has happened and the pain is getting to her. Instead of being in college, she's preparing to die. Wes has had a hard life, but has been able to survive everything so far. What's an apocalypse? He's determined to find a way to stay alive, but doesn't expect to run into Rain.

I loved set up of the world in Praying for Rain. Everyone is scared and all is messed up. The author made this feel very realistic and I know I wouldn't do well in a situation like that. I also thought it was refreshing to see that the characters weren't so sure everything was going to be okay. In a lot of stories, the characters are determined to survive, but that's not the case here.

Even though I did love a lot of elements of this story, I did have a couple of moments I wanted to stop reading. When Wes and Rain meet, I expected there to be an attraction. Of course, this is also a romance. This was way too instalove though and it really had me questioning why I was reading this story. On top of the instalove, there is just a bit too much drama. The world is ending and certain things the characters seem worried about feel really stupid if you know what's happening around them.

I would've loved to have seen Rain get a bit stronger herself instead of relying on Wes to make everything okay. Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of sweet moments of them trying to make some special moments in less than perfect circumstances. Sometimes it was just a bit much. And even though I did have my issues, I finished the story and I'm really curious how this trilogy will continue.

As soon as I seen this cover pop up on social media, I wanted to read it. Had no clue what it was about and never have read this author, but I was sold with just the cover alone.

And damn, this book was really good and different. I liked the characters, the setting, and the plot. And that ending left me wanting the next book immediately. Can’t wait to read more of this series.
