I love fairy tales and all of their adaptations! It's great to jump into the nostalgia from my childhood, especially seeing new takes in graphic novel form. This time around, Beauty has two sisters named Gritty and Petty (it reminds me of Cinderella - wicked sisters with awful names). The Beast is a scary, green creature. The story follows the classic fairy tale in a kid friendly way - so you most likely know the rest already. I found this book to be very simplistic and easy to read. Kids and adults will enjoy it! The pictures are colourful and illustrate the story well, but I almost wish it was a little bit longer. The inclusion of writing prompts, art project and discussion questions was very cute and makes it for a great educational tool. Overall, this book is a sweet introduction to graphic novels and is a great adaptation of the classic fairy tale! Three out of five stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Capstone and Picture Window Books for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

This was kindly given to me from Netgalley and the publisher ****************************************************************************** It was nice to see that at the beginning of the book there was directions on how you are supposed to read the illustrations. It was a quick read. A bit of a twist on the original Beauty and the Beast. This was enjoyable. Would be nice if there was little bit more to the story but all in all you got the understanding of what was going on and wasn't hard to follow along.

I don't think the author brought anything new to the fairytale of Beauty and the Beast which is so unfortunate. For such a beloved story that most everyone loves most authors bring something new to it and make it their own, but Gunderson gave a very watered down rendition that felt lack luster, especially since children generally want fantastical things. Overall it was disappointing.

One of my favorite Disney princess stories! Beauty and the Beast is a classic; Gunderson's adaptation was a revamped new twist bringing Belle into 2020. I found it very interesting that Belle had sisters when in the original she was an only child. Reminiscent of another one of Disney's creations, Cinderella. The artwork/graphics were exquisite, loved how all the characters were drawn. A nice, enjoyable, easy read; great for early-readers. Preferably kids in first or second grade around six to seven years of age would absolutely love this book. One of my only wishes for this short story would have been the integration of other key characters; such as Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the cutest one of them all Chip.
