Lennox did not end up being the character who I thought he would be at all, for a prince so callous he surprisingly melted for his prey quickly. Sloane has him wrapped around her finger far earlier than she ever realized and she brings him to his knees. I’m used to bully romance being so much darker than Callous Prince turned out to be. Most of the torment between these two happens in their earlier years of high school with the story picking up after senior year has started. Focusing more on their coming together than the real torment that had happened between them. There is still absolutely a ton of tension and heat. Lennox and Sloane do battle it out, Sloane just holds out longer. She is no where near a delicate damsel, the girl doesn’t want nor need a prince at all. I throughly enjoyed how she could take Lennox on physically and wasn’t scared to remind him. Most of the time she was more aggressive than he was when it came to her attraction when they were alone, giving you another twist in how you expected them to interact. Lennox becomes so sweet on her you barely register him as a bully by the end, his craving for Sloane heavily overweighting his hate. He was just hurt by what life had thrown at him so young and Sloane happened to really hit some of his soft spots in both good and bad ways. Some in which she couldn’t control and some in which she could. Both Sloane and Lennox worked through their emotions of betrayals that were revealed and found themselves stronger on the other end. It was a nice switch up for a YA romance to not have continual reckless decisions made between the characters or unnecessary drama that doesn’t really add to the plot line. Although their story was no where near what I anticipated it was an engaging read with a steady amount of heat and quite a few laughs that I devoured in one sitting.
