Thank you to the publisher for providing me an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. DNF at 11%. I know. I should’ve reached to at least 50%. I rarely DNF books, much less ARCs because I am inclined to give my feedback, but I knew I just couldn’t get through this book. The premise of vampires is always very intriguing, I LOVE IT, considering this is set in a dark and futuristic era where they are elites, looking for human blood donors to live with them for as long as they wish to. Truth be told, vampires are interesting YA characters that never go out of style. They are beautiful yet creepy creatures of fiction. However, this book fell very flat for me from the beginning, despite the medium-paced storytelling and dual pov writing style. The characters also didn’t leave much of an impression for me. I really didn’t like this.

I recieven this book from Netgalley in return for my honest opinion. I kinda liked the book, but it also felt too much like it was written by a Wattpad author. Yes, I am aware that this book is by Wattpad, but it really felt like some sort of fanfic is some way. The story was fun, the idea of some sort of house full of vampires and it gave me some sort of Love Island kinda idea. You know, a house full of celebs and everybody wants to watch/ join. Renie wasn't my favorite but she had her bits and pieces that I enjoyed. I did understand why she joined the house. Over all the book was okay. It was just a bit too much Wattpad still for me. I don't really like those stories anymore.

It was a bit slow to start, but I liked the turn it took about half way through. By the end I was thoroughly invested and enjoying the story. Very interesting plot and thoughts on how Vampires might live in our current society. A different side to Vampires than I've read before or seen in movies. I'll be reading the second one.

Edmond?? SERIOUSLY?? I really wasn’t sure what to rate this because I honestly DID have a good time. The story was promising and the idea was there and it did keep me interested till the end but the writing was just…weird. I haven’t read many books where you switch from 1st to 3rd person but it just felt really jankey to me? It just made it feel really disjointed and hard to switch POV’s when the writing changed. The writing in general felt a bit week if I’m honest. Like a lot of “we’re doing this, now this” vibes and it moved a little too quickly for the story tbh. Like we solved the main “mystery” half way through then just kinda sat around till there was 50 pages left and like 3 things happened all at once. The ending was honestly overwhelming and just came out of nowhere? Also can we talk about the insta love?? Listen…after like 1 day of meeting “Edmond” the MC was like right yep vampires aren’t that bad he’s sexy wow I’m in love with him and just kinda changed her entire principles?? It was kinda annoying af but if I ignore the insta lovey part the pining romance wasn’t terrible?? I just didn’t like how it got there? Anyway despite my brain imaging Edmond close to Edward Cullen bc the name threw me for a loop, I might actually read the sequel when it comes out bc I did have fun reading it despite the flaws? I think the best way I can describe this is “Early 2010’s paranormal fiction” vibes, writing and all.

There is no greater loneliness than immortality.

They didn't understand what a burden it could be. Immortality means living forever, with every bad memory and ugly mistake, every betrayal and emotional wound. But people had to experience it to understand it.

"It's a dangerous game you play, vieille amie," he murmured.
