Riley is on the run from her batcrap crazy family! Her best friends even turned on her to keep themselves safe. She has now settled into running a local bar far from home but she is always hyper aware of those around her. Ryder has been off seeing the world. He has no real desire for a mate, he likes sampling the smorgasbord of females! But when his mother and extended family con him into returning for the scenting ceremony, with an eye to fixing him up with a family friend, he never figured on actually meeting his mate. Or that she would be a panther! Riley and Ryder have a hot and heavy first meeting but Riley is skittish to say the least and has no desire to pull Ryder into her crazy life on the run. I loved the way the pack just took Riley into their hearts and were willing to defend her, even without her being a full pack member. I really enjoyed the novel "magic hoover" chants that the bad guy uses - very novel!
