Fantastic series. The story is great, as is the art. Imaginative characters and storyline. Good for ages 8 and up.

This is a rather quick read. It's great if you want to use it to read aloud, especially with younger children. It keeps them interested in what's going on in the story and eager to know what's next.

In terms of science fiction, this is a good book for someone who is still unfamiliar with the genre. The worldbuilding does a good job of not being too distracting from the plot. It doesn't overwhelm the reader with unnecessary information.

In terms of characters, we do get a good range of them. Although the majority of them tend to be robots, they all have different personalities and range in emotions.

Overall, it was interesting and I would continue reading the series even without using it as a reading material for tutoring.

Zita is so charming. She and a friend end up in another dimension and separated. Zita makes friends on this strange new world and she has to save the day.

Ben Hatke is clearly influenced by the likes of Jeff Smith (creator of Bone) and Bill Watterson (creator of Calvin and Hobbes).

Like Bone, Zita the Spacegirl will appeal to both children and those who are young at heart.

Zita is such a simple and amazing graphic novel with lots of action and awesome humor. I couldn't put it down (adult) and I would recommend it to any reader of any age.

Zita is dragged into a new world and a creative adventure. She makes friends with all sorts of creatures that help her on her quest to save her friend and return home.

The character design and the scenes are well constructed and have a great style.

As soon as I read this, I handed it to my husband, who is a 5th grade teacher. He read it and agreed that he had to get it in his classroom library.

Zita and her friend Joseph are playing when something comes crashing to earth. Zita, being the adventurous type, goes to investigate and finds a device with a large red button. And who can resist pressing a button?! A portal opens and Joseph is kidnapped by something and Zita must find a way to save him. What starts out as a rescue mission, turns into an unforgettable journey where she makes new friends, and maybe some enemies. Ben Hatke has created a wonderful new world with creatures that will make you hope that extraterrestrials do exist.

What I love most about this story is that an ordinary girl with no special powers does great and courageous things. I think it's one that readers of all levels will enjoy reading.

I. Loved. This. LOVED IT!
 
First off, the illustrations are absolutely wonderful. They're simple, yet vibrant, and they pull you into the story easily. Zita is so darn cute! In fact every character depicted in these pages has their own little flair. I love when the illustrations create voices in my head for each character. These did just that! It makes following along with this rag-tag group of adventurers that much more fun. I couldn't get enough!
 
Oh, and what a story. Zita is brave, and kind. She shows readers that doing the right thing isn't always easy. That friendship is important, and can be found in the unlikeliest of places.That being brave doesn't mean you're not scared, but that you persevere even though you are. I ate it up. Every panel, every piece of this story. It was all so perfect. I'd put this into the hands of a young reader in a heartbeat.
 
For certain people out there, who know who they are, there are robots in this one! So very much love for this first installment of Zita! I need the rest as soon as humanly possible, and you can bet your behind that I'll be buying these. If you haven't already read this, add it to your list. It's worth it!
