Dr. Barr's book is one that, if you spend any time in progressive spaces, comes up at least once in conversation. I had wanted to read it for some time now and am so glad class work was done so I could pick this one up. Not only is her writing deeply personal, but her voice is so strong you can't help but feel like you've been invited into her thoughts. Dr. Barr is brilliant, and has grown my reading list substantially. This is the perfect book to read if you're interested how patriarchy and Christianity became bed fellows, and if you have a woman in your life who feels called to serve God, this is one of the perfect books to gift her. Hands down
