Since I first heard about the tragic shark attack that took Bethany's arm I have wanted to know more about her story. Now, months... probably years later... I finally read her account of the incident.

What an amazing testimony she has! She speaks candidly about her life and while the issues she touches on aren't enormously deep and complex issues, the issues are very important for a fourteen year old girl in her situation. The fact that I am in training to earn an MAT in teaching Middle Grades I find this book very revealing. Of course her story and experiences are not the same as all in her age group but it is an insight into at least one.

{first read 2013 or 2014} This is hands down the best non-scripture book I have ever read!! Just beneath the Bible, I'm telling you! I adore Bethany Hamilton and I feel like she is an exemplar role model for all girls anywhere. She's one of my heroes and her book just ingrained that love for her in me! I'm so excited for her next book coming out TOMORROW!
{re-read March 20-24, 2016} I absolutely loved re-reading this! It's still one of my favorites, although I'm not sure it's as high up as it used to be. Bethany has such an inspiring, amazing story! Her writing is obviously not the most sophisticated, but she was 14 when she wrote the book, so I don't blame her. Overall, I really enjoyed re-reading this!
