This was really a fun read. It is YA, I'd say the writing and plots are relatively simple (but not without twists and betrayals!) and easy to read for both adults and teens. I've only played the games through once and this first book gives great insight of the world and some characters before the game takes place. The writing was nice and evenly paced, although some things happened in the background I didn't mind it. Even though it was 400 pages I found it to be a quick read. Loghain being a villain of the games but a comrade in the books really makes you reconsider hating him so much. Great character progression throughout. The ending made me emotional and I'm looking forward to continue on to the next book. I really would recommend this book for Dragon Age fans.
