I feel like I can always rely on Elizabeth Wein for a fascinating, historically accurate story. I'm glad that this takes place in a country during a conflict that was not very well-known but vital to history and the development of WWII. Most people don't know about this war and I did not, even as an AP European history student. Very well-written, very Elizabeth Wein.

Wein expands her expository YA novels into 1930s Ethiopia with this tale of siblings, race, aviation, and war. A wonderfully rambling adventure, with dark glimpses into human nature and hard choices, I would recommend this to any high school Advanced Placement History course as a supplementary reading.

Incredibly well written, but slightly harder to get into than Verity & Rose. I loved the characters, but feel slightly less connected to the story. Definitely worth reading, especially if you're a fan of Elizabeth Wein.
