Chaotic. Michelle’s self-destructive and rather aimless life is depressing. She’s poor, has a dirt-cheap room in a flat that’s infested with cockroaches. She loves women, drugs, and books, not always in that order. Quite a variety of drugs. Interesting look at queer culture. Occasional humor. The book envisions a time when there’s not enough gasoline so drivers licenses are no longer issued? People are giving up because the world is ending but we’re not exactly sure how or when. It’s this sense of inevitability and resignation that just did not resonate with my optimistic self.

Brook

Loved this book. The mix of memoir, fantasy, and humor was pretty great. The story twists around a bit, and there's some 4th wall breaking later on. It's a mediation on truth, memory, and love lost and gained. If you generally like Michelle Tea, you'll like this, and if if haven't liked her before, you might still want to give this a shot as it's different enough to be enjoyable outside of liking her memoirs.
