I know this series has a total of 12 books and this is only the third one, but this has to be my favorite so far. The first half is a kind of slow for a short book like this, where it focuses on Lindon and Yerin's training and a tiny bit of world building, but it was not boring in my opinion. But when the second half started, damn! It picked up quickly and I ended up reading it in one sitting.

Lindon and Yerin's respective fights were really good, especially because their enemies were stronger than them and you can see how they really struggled hard to win, but Eithan's fight was my favorite. This book showed a glimpse of him sandbagging. He was introduced as character powerful enough to be an Underlord, but it was mentioned that he was only put in that position to be a decoration, but now, the tip of his real strength reared its head. His fight with the Jai clan patriarch was extremely fast but also extremely intense, my adrenaline rush was at its peak! No wonder I considered him as my favorite character so far in this series. I'm always attracted to badass characters and Eithan is one!

So excited for the next book because I can sense the world expanding more and there are new characters introduced!

Compared to the first two books this one slowed down a little in the second third but then had a surprise spectacular finale with plenty of unveils and twists and turns. Couldn't stop reading the last few chapters, had to burn (lmao no pun intended) through them.

Man, this progression fantasy genre is like crack. All the gratification I want in similar fantasy books but never easily given, whereas here, it's par for the course. This book upped the ante for Lindon and with it being only the third book, I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
