we agree if Ms. Ryan has a wonderful writing, touching plot, amazing characters. this is my second time reading her book and I love every bit of it. second chance may not something I really like, but this one is written well and my heart burst out!!

I usually don’t even write reviews, but I felt like I had to talk about this one.
Overall, I did enjoy the book, the characters and the couple but the way their story developed is just not my vibe. The first part where they were college students was very good, but the rest just didn’t go as I thought it would. Cheating is just something I don’t like in books, and they do that. Repeatedly. 
I think if it was just one intense kiss between the two and Banner had told Zo the next day it would bother me less, but that’s not what happened. And the fact Jared just didn’t have any respect for their relationship also bothered me, he acted like that was the only way she could be his and although i do admire his perseverance and the fact he knows what he wants and will do anything to get it, his approach to this situation just didn’t sit right with me. 

I did love Banner tho, she’s a very strong and beautiful woman who works hard, doesn’t take shit from anyone and is very good at what she does. 
As for Jared, there were moments I liked him and moments I didn’t. 
I do think they’re a perfect match, but maybe if their story happened differently I would’ve liked it more. 

Hoping to enjoy the 3rd book more than this one, maybe as much as I did the first one!

I think Jared is annoying. why are y’all 32 still talking about senior year and freshman orientation every 2 seconds? For the whole ten years you never tried pursuing this girl that you supposedly love so much but when yall start working in the same circle and you see her in a committed relationship you want her so bad…Talking about you had her first so you want her back💀? Please seek help via therapy. 
Also the way we have no backstory of them before that night.

And banner if you know you didn’t like zo romantically for all these years and think of him as a “best friend” why stay with him why not just break up with him so things can end peacefully instead of cheating the second this man booked his flight 
He didn’t deserve that frl.

Also some of the dialogue was so cringe that I genuinely had to take breaks.

ill be honest. i did not like the main characters for a hot minute, #justiceforzo the poor man. he deserves the world and more- everything he’s going through just to be hurt like how he was wasnt cool. 
jared. i love him. he was so funny in the weirdest way- i hope he learns spanish for banners mum. WHO I HATE. god she was a bitch when she found banner and jared. 
banner was a girl boss. absolute queen. yeh she was a twat for a while but i did love her by the end

I really liked this book. I liked how unabashedly honest Jared was. I like how he was unapologetic for who he is and how he went about things. I think he was really the core of this book and that makes it great. 
Don’t get me wrong, Banner is incredible, someone every woman should aspire to be, but I think Jared was the shining light here.
He’s tough, he’s honest, he’s an arsehole, but he is devoted to Banner and I loved that.
This is a great addition to the Hoops series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

My god, this book. What a ride. I listened to this on audio (FANTASTIC narrators), and I was on the edge of my seat for the entire experience. I cannot even begin to say how compelling Kennedy Ryan is as a writer, as she turned every one of my preconceptions over what I typically don't like in romance on its head.

One thing you must know before going in, Banner, the heroine, is constantly talking about her weight, her diet, and her appearance. The first break between her and Jared was because of being called fat, being seen naked, being shamed. I felt overall the rep was well done, but it is A LOT. I was feeling in an okay place, but just be aware. I don't want anyone to be hurt.

The TENSION. My god. The sheer heat between Banner and Jared about lit my hair on fire. I also wanted to rip my hair out of my head. My hair was in a lot of danger reading this story.

Beautifully flawed characters, compelling and realistic drama, settings, and wow. Just wow. BUT I don't think I can read or listen to another Kennedy Ryan book for a little while because I'm very overwhelmed. So good, but definitely an author I will enjoy slowly, for my own hair's health!

Block Shot was ahhhhhhhmazing. I'm convinced Kennedy Ryan is incapable of writing anything less. Also? I'm kicking myself for letting it sit around on my TBR for as long as it has. After the amazingness that was Long Shot, I should've dropped everything to jump into this book the minute it was released. Alas, I did not. I am thrilled I read it so close to the release of Hook Shot, though. I can't quite call it a binge, but at least everything will be fresh in my head.

Banner was a badass and inspiring heroine. I basically want to be her BFF. I am here for the curvier heroines in romance. Can we talk about how cool her job is, too? Basically anything involving sports would be a dream job for me, but an agent at the top of her game? Love. Jared was super swoony. I mean, there were a few moments when I doubted him, but they were pretty short-lived. One of my favorite things in romances is when the hero is 1000% in for the heroine and that was certainly the case here. Even though there was someone else in her life at the time. Parts of their story are messy, no doubt, but overall it was gorgeous. Quite a ride, but gorgeous.

I think what always makes Kennedy's stories stand out to me is the layers in it. You can read it for the romance and the characters and thoroughly enjoy it, but you can also look a little deeper and find MORE. I loved Long Shot, but parts of that book were nearly impossible for me to read because they were so triggering. Banner and Jared's story was bumpy at times, but I didn't experience the same anxiety while reading it. Sure, I was a little nervous in some moments about the possibility of a future for them, but it wasn't like with Long Shot. Boy, did these two do things to my heart. I'm a Kennedy Ryan fan for life.

Let me tell you how amazing Kennedy Ryan is! If you didn’t see me flailing about Long Shot in March, I hope you catch me flailing right now over book 2 in this series, Block Shot!! This is a stand-alone series, so these don’t have to be read in order... but I recommend you do because they’re just THAT GOOD!!

Kennedy Ryan does sports romance at its best. These are easily my favorite sports romance books, and there’s a very good reason why... Kennedy Ryan is a sports romance genius! The way she writes these characters and their stories is utter perfection.

I can’t recommend Block Shot and Long Shot enough. If you’re a fan of sports romance, second-chance romance, or enemies-to-lovers romance, this series is for you!! Heck if you’re a fan of *any* romance, check out this series!!
