What makes a great book? For me, it almost always has to do with the interpersonal relationships between characters. This book took a character that I didn't like AT ALL in the first book, and only somewhat liked in this book and made me bawl my eyes out at their death. It wasn't the character I was crying over, it was the way the other characters reacted to it. 

Even without that, this book was fantastic. The way everything wove itself together. The action. The political/societal issues. It was all just fantabulous. 

I loved this duology and I can't wait to read more from this author.
