           This story definitely kept my attention, but it was just way too similar to Corry's first novel. It almost seemed like she couldn't come up with another story. Both novels had the same narration style, both had a young girl working at a prison. One thing I didn't like about this book was that Allison acts out of character near the end of the novel, and the book is based upon tricking or misguiding the reader. While I usually enjoy books that make the reader think or disbelieve the narrator, this one seems to have no depth to the lies, and instead just seem to attempt to wrap up the story.

This book was very interesting… to say the least. Lots of WTF moments. Definitely a good easy read but very weird and interesting plot to say the least.

Three little girls set off to school one sunny May morning. Within an hour, one of them is dead. Fifteen years later, Alison and Kitty are living separate lives. Kitty lives in a care home. She can't speak, and she has no memory of the accident that put her here, or her life before it. Art teacher Alison looks fine on the surface. But the surface is a lie. When a job in a prison comes up she decides to take it - this is her chance to finally make things right. But someone is watching Kitty and Alison. Someone who wants revenge for what happened that day. And only another life will do...

Not bad, though slow at times. First 1/4 almost made me DNF, but then the action sped up, with lots of revelations and good buildup. Then the last bit was quite slow again and felt a bit pointless and overkill. 

Definitely needs a trigger warning though (features rape, self-harm and child murder, among other things).

Might suggest it to someone whose favorite genre are thriller/horror books, but probably won’t be on top of my overall recommendation list.
