The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead in a great addition in the Vampire Academy universe.

Typically, when an author breaks off from the original series and creates a prequel/sequel series it's not very good - Richelle Mead is one of the few authors that has created a hit. She stands alongside JK Rowling with Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, Cassandra Clare with TMI and TID and many other greats. 

Bloodlines became my guilty pleasure when it came out. After striking gold with Vampire Academy and having me hooked there, of course Richelle had to create a story centered around everybody's boyfriend - Adrian Ivashkov. With Adrian and Sydney leading this series, we have two strong, able leads who always keep things interesting.

Our leads grow a lot within this book - this appears to be the book mainly for character development. There is still an epic plot, with fast paced action and over the top drama, but the main part of this book that kept me interested was how the characters were changing and growing. Richelle always seems to have one book in her series that has a strong sense of character development, and it always ends up being one of the better books in the series.

This book does lack a lot of the friendly side characters we grew to love, but don't worry! They appear in later books!! This book's main focus is Adrian and Sydney. There are a few new characters introduced to make up for that empty space - and that includes a little witchcraft! While I didn't enjoy these characters as much as our typical brood (Angeline, Eddie, Jill, etc) they were still a nice edition to the story.

Overall, this supernatural story is a definite recommended read from me! Start from the beginning (Bloodlines) or the VERY VERY beginning (Vampire Academy) if you want some great reads to fill your time. They definitely are worth it! Keep in mind these are YA novels - so there is lots of young adult love and drama, and of course this book has vampires. Not your typical vampires, but still...vampires. There was a trend a few years back, if you can't remember. Vampires were "the thing".

this series is just amazing, like literally amazing. i’m so in love with all these characters and sydneyadrian i can’t even tell y’all. i almost died at the end from all the love.

This book was hot hot hot! The connection between Sydney and Adrian is just inevitable. I do feel for Sydney though, she has to go against all of her instincts that have been drilled into her head since childhood. Besides the romance in this book, we get a lot of action! Sydney finally finds the infamous Marcus Finch who managed to escape the Alchemists and do something spectacular to his tattoo. I liked that we got to learn a lot about the golden lily tattoo's in this novel and their history, Mead really focused on the implications if the tattoo was to used on you. It's almost like brainwash in a way and I have a suspicious feeling that is what is going to happen to Sydney's sister, Zoe. 

This book really is just about the struggle Sydney has mentally about whether to follow her instinct, that may be wrong, or her heart. The problem is that she has so much other crap to deal with, her newfound magic, protecting Jill, dealing with Angeline, and especially the lies that the Alchemists have been telling her. She doesn't know who to trust expect the Moroi, whom she had been brainwashed into not trusting... basically it's a huge mess in Sydney's life and she's close to exploding. I honestly wouldn't blame her if she did. 

The big 'bad' in this book is some person tracking and killing young witches across the US. So, of course Sydney and Adrian go on little, adorable trips to all of these places to figure out who and why this is happening. Unfortunately, they do lose some witches but the culprit is revealed and Sydney finds herself fighting to the death with them. It's an amazing scene and an amazing way to end the book. I still have so many questions that need to be answered but I guess I can wait till the next book :(. 

This was a pretty good novel and it seems to be going in the same direction as Vampire Academy, which is nice because that series was awesome!

YAY SYDRIAN!!! 

Wow! I'm so blown away by the ending! This one has got to be my favorite so far. Like with vampire academy, these books just get better and better and are so so much fun to read! I got swept away with the story and like the other ones I couldn't put it down! This world is so much fun and the characters are so fantastic. Sydney is FINALLY being the strong kickass heroine we knew she could be and omg she is so cool! I want to be able to do magic like that! I LOVED the magic in this story and the development and growth was great to read about. That ending was so crazy and unexpected! The other two books were really great but a little predictable and this one definitely had more of an unexpected plot twist which I loved. Sydney using magic throughout the story was perfect and her relationship with Adrian was hilarious and so adorable! IM SO HAPPY FOR THEM!! FINALLY! I started crying it was so wonderful!!! I'm absolutely in love with this series! I can't wait to jump into Fiery Heart!

Bueno. Como empezar? Seré lo mas honesta que puedo. Primero que nada comentar que esta review será cambiada cuando lo lea en español por completo. Porque si, el mismo 12 de febrero estaba leyendolo en ingles en el colectivo (bus, wtv). Puede que me haya parecido en cierta parte un libro aburrido, con poca acción. Pero lamentablemente Bloodlines es una saga que le falta... como no tienen a los Dharmirskdmajks hace mucho que no leo la palabra xD ya ni me cuerdo, decia es entendible que haya poca acción. Tampoco quiero comparar a VA con Bloodlines, porque es un pecado que considero. Pero creo que Richelle se está esforzando más en la pareja que en la acción del libro. Los teasers trailers tenían más acción que los libros en si. Y algunas cositas absurdas quedaron fuera delado. HOLA. UN DRAGÓN/DEMONIO. Y las partes en donde Sydney comenzaba a dejar huecos en su historia. De la nada quería cambiar su tatuaje, de la nada quería viajar, de la nada todo. Creo que de la nada se rebeló a loos alquimistas y no estuvo muy bien explicado, aun asì, puede que sea yo que lo haya leído en ingles y haya salteado partecitas, suelo hacerlo.

AHORA, lo bueno. Me ha encantado. Richelle sigue escribiendo hermoso. Nos ha dejado con muchas partes inconclusas onda... 'WTF JILL! PORQUE LOS INTERRUMPIS?" Me encanta que el tema de los sueños de Adrian vuelvan a ser parte de la trama. Me gustó la vuelta de tuerca (como siempre Richelle♥!) y me encantó el romance. Que mas decir de eso? Cuando finalmente pasa lo que pasa en el último capitulo (o ante ultimo?) SPOILER cuando le dice 'creo que estoy enamorada'. Lloré. Se me cayeron las lágrimas. Los que esos dos me hacen sentir no tiene precio y es estar loca, pero es cosa mía dirán algunos.

Le pondría 4 estrellas por la poca acción que tuvo, pero hay que admitir que siempre pasaba algo. Si no era Marcus (que personaje desagradable por cierto); era Veronica, los besos, los sueños, creo que esperé mucho y hasta algunos fanfictions me parecieron con más acción que el verdadero libro, pero no debo dejar de admitir que se llevómis suspiros, lagrimas y 150 días de espera.

I couldn't put this book down. Damn, it was great. Richelle's writing is infectious, you just can't stop reading and it just keeps better with every book. 

Gosh the characters in this book. I love them. Sydney is really turning it to an amazing character, I love love love how she has grown. I cannot wait to read book number 4!!!! I wish someone would make VA a tv show so BL can become a spinoff show as well!!!! great book!

There is only one word to summarize this. SYDRIAN. Meaning that they (mainly Sydney) has come to see that she loves Adrian, and wants to be with him, being the vampire he is. She's rebelling against her kind- the alchemist because they've lied to her multiple times. I got a tad frustrated at Sydney when her and Adrian would kiss and yet she would deny her feelings, I understand why, if they were caught then he would be dragged to re-education for sure.

Then, her sister, Zoe, came and I kind of got mad. With Zoe around, how will SYDRIAN be together and have romantic moments and bicker and talk and be SYDRIAN!

What I also loved was that Sydney and Adrian are the parents of a magical creature, a Callistana (aka: a demon creature) which I picture to be really cute. They name him Hopper, best rabbit ever!!

If you don't ship Sydrian, I'm judging you…

With that being said, I'm going to start The Fiery Heart tomorrow!

Me encanta Richelle Mead, es una de esas escritoras que con tan solo la mención de su nombre sabes que tendrás un buen libro.

Uno de los puntos fuertes de este libro es Adrian Ivashkov, ese sexy Moroi que nos conquistó desde Vampire Academy, tanto así que muchos querían desplazar y matar al co-protagonista de Rose para que nuestro talentoso pintor se quede con ella. Incluso ahora los Team Dimitri y Team Adrian, son fandoms con los que no te quieres meter.

Dejando mi lado FanGirl y Team Adrian (también soy Team Dimitri, tengo para los dos), el libro me gustó. Si bien...

How can I even find the words to describe my feelings? It would probably involve a lot of exclamation marks and bold lettering but thank God that I took five minutes to compose my feelings. 

Firstly, Sydrian. THE FEELS! To me these two are literally perfection. I cannot find fault with them in any way, shape or form. I love the way that Richelle mead has developed their relationship and from everything I've seen so far if they don't end up together happily ever after it will be a travesty. Plus the ending...

Secondly, Eddie and Jill. They needed to be to be together like yesterday. They both have deep feelings for one another and personally I think that they both deserve something good in their lives.

Thirdly, Sydney is so kick ass. Everything she does is pretty much perfection but something tells me that with the Zoe issues things may become harder to deal with. Especially with the whole loving Adrian/using forbidden situation. Somehow she'll pull it off. I think that simply because she is Sydney Sage.

Este libro no fue tan increíble como lo fue The Golden Lily pero en recompensa tuvimos muchos momentos Sydrian los que adoré. 
Creo que en materia de introducir un problema este libro funciona más que contar una historia propia como lo hicieron los anteriores. 
Quiero ver como la hermana de Sydney es un problema en el próximo libro...

Okay ladies and gentlemen. Let's get ready for the awesomeness that is the Indigo Spell. YAY...

Honestly though, I've been putting off this review for a long time because I wasn't sure I could describe its awesomeness in words. I still can't.. so I'm going to stop trying and just ramble (hell yeah).

Best thing about the Indigo Spell? More Adrian time. Lovely event for the ladies lol. Attendance is mandatory. I mean.. WHO WOULDN'T WANNA GET MORE OF THAT CHARMING BOY? It's an Adrian-loving world here people. I've always loved Adrian more than Dimitri (I know, shame on me) and I'm really excited to see more of him. I love seeing his funny side and trying to make a move on Sydney lol. Good job, Adrian, for making all the ladies love you.

I'm going to stop talking about Adrian now 'cause we don't want him to get more cocky, do we? In this book, there's a lot more adventure. You see Sydney balance out her magical adventure and her Alchemist duties. I liked seeing how Sydney slowly accepts her magic and starts using it to her advantage. And the romance!! Yes, the romance. It just makes my toes curl and smile and squeal and all those things you do when you're reading the best scenes ever :"3

While I don't really have anything negative to say about this amazing book, I do have to point out that meeting Marcus Finch was a bit overrated. Meeting him was all hyped up and when I actually met him, I was like, "Eh.. boring character. Dude needs a backbone." I'm not docking the rating because I really was kinda iffy on him and didn't really care in the Golden Lily.

Now, let's sum up this book. This book was made of absolute awesomeness! Epic adventure, swoon-worthy romance kept me flipping the pages. Another cliffhanger at the end left me wanting for more! I absolutely cannot wait for the Fiery Heart and November, please come sooner!!!

Great plot this time around. The only negative thing is there was very little of Jill and Eddie in this one but I suppose seeing Rose, Demitri, Lissa, and Christian was a fair trade.

Indigo Spell: Spolier Review This book was so good and it became much less predictable hence the five stars that i gave it. I am really loving the relationship between sydney and adriana and I can't wait to see where it goes in the future books. I love how complex this relationship is and also why it not easy for these characters to been in these relationships. I love high stakes relationships it makes the drama and and the love even more intense.
 
I also love the side stories with Jill and Eddie. I love them being so not aware of the others feelings and again it is slow profession but one that I am really enjoying. I think eddie is still one of my favorite characters in this series by far.
 
I thought this book really bought the drama and had some great fight scenes and also a lot of stuff that really struck the core that was sydney. I love how she is being challenged from all sides especially when magic is concerned. 
 
That is one of the parts of this book that I love her learning of magic and how good she is at it even if she hates it. It is very similar to her feeling for adrian in some ways.
 
I think the series really focus on her trying to find herself in so many ways that is the heart and soul of this story and I love it. I can't wait to see how her sisters presence my effect the future books!

Guys. You seriously have no idea how much I loved this book. I finished it at 4am and I literally couldn’t stop rolling around for hours because I was so happy with the ending. 
Sydney grew to me. To be honest, if anyone said I would like her as much as I do now when she was with Rose, I would’ve just laughed straight into the persons face. But here I am sitting. Liking Sydney like never before. It was amazing to see what changes she has been through and if you compare this Sydney to the Sydney in Bloodlines you definitely will see how strong and independent she became. 
And Adrian…sigh. Should I really write down how much I love Adrian Ivashkov? Because, if yes, I would still sit here until morning not even half finished with my list with arguments how awesome Adrian Ivashkov really is. Let me just say that my love for him increased a millions with the Bloodlines series (and I already adored him in VA okay)
The story was so unpredictable and I seriously didn’t see that thing at the end coming. I was like what the hell is happening?
But SYDRIAN. JESUS GUYS. My heart ached with Adrian through the whole book and finally he got the girl. I was so happy for him because he deserve luck in his life even for once.
Well, I thought every thing would be fine (especially after that scene in the end) but no. Zoe – Sydneys Sister came.
Seriously, I am afraid for The Fiery Heart. I have a bad feeling about it.

I actually loved this book until the very last part and.That seemed a bit forced to me.Also I don't know why but the whole "Sydney realizing she loved Adrien this whole time" felt a bit off.But nonetheless I loved the book,I love Sydney Sage and I can't wait to read the next book.Though knowing me that's probably gonna take a while.

Me gusto que mezclaran la magia con Sydney, siendo que ella en un primer momento no creía en eso, pero eso la ayudo a ver las cosas de distinta manera y descubrir que algunas veces se tenían que hacer cosas que uno no está acostumbrado a hacer. Siento que Sydney a crecido mucho a través de toda la saga, ya no es esa mujer que le tenía miedo a algunas cosas (view spoiler)[ la magia y los vampiros sobre todo  (hide spoiler)] y ahora la podemos ver como una mujer más madura y dispuesta a hacer lo que sea para ayudar a los que ama (view spoiler)[ que en un principio no eran los mismos que ahora, ya que los alquimistas le están demostrando que no son lo que ella creía  (hide spoiler)], pero en fin, sin duda me gusta mucho más esta Sydney que la anterior :)

Otra cosa que no puedo dejar de mencionar, ADRIAN, el le da toda la perfección a el libro, amo como es, su personalidad, como es con Sydney y como hace todo lo posible para salirse con la suya (view spoiler)[ principalmente logrando que Sydney se quedará con él♥  (hide spoiler)]. Amo su personaje y como también cambia a través de los libros, cosa que es más que entusiasmante de ver en él.
