if i could i would love to give this book lower than 1 star. if you are thinking about reading this book or supporting the author i suggest you dont because this book is nothing but a ripoff elle kennedy’s off campus series (basketball edition). there are so many other series that involved basketball that are worth your time and they are much enjoyable. the author of this book is so problematic and did some really hurtful things, i’ll link them below for you to read. also the five stars reviews are just people who want to get a early ARC because shes doing some type of giveaway on her instagram. take my advice and dont read this and especially dont support the author.

This book is really good!! Love the characters!

when halfway through a book, I usually look the book up on tiktok (idky) it’s basically my usual thing. i was midway through this book, when I found out what a piece of crap the author actually is. apparently she’s racist, tricked all her readers into giving her 5 star ratings, manipulated other basketball romance writers on Wattpad and claimed all such romances as her own while she literally copied her base plot off of another writer 💀 it’s like Elle Kennedy’s off campus series lol. the books aren’t bad but she is. 

anyway about the book. it was a really cute read. i liked all the characters, Abby was adorable and I really liked how she stood for what she believed in despite of the constant criticism she faced. Tristan beck is such a cutie. Lmao he’s all hard and bad on the outside but such a simp for Abby on the inside. He was adorable, both of them were reallllyyy enjoyable. 

Now, the book was painstakingly dragged on. the book was 600-700 pages long, and the characters got together 200 pages in 😭 plus there wasn’t any big conflict lol. well there was ONE- around 250 pages in- and genuinely I don’t remember what it was, I only know that Abby’s mother was the reason for it. And speaking of Abby’s mother was the “villain” of the book? Doesn’t make sense. Also the lack of diversity in this book (makes sense given the author lol)? It got boring. 

But the thing is, me being such a romantic and a sucker for cute gestures really liked moments from the book. and it was moreish. LIKE REALLY moreish. 

Alsooo a lot of the main issues with the main couple was how they would handle long distance after Tristan got drafted into the NBA (which could be anywhere) and when he does get drafted in Canada while Abby is in NYC, they say they will “work things out no matter what” and the book ends. LIKE SERIOUSLY? i waited all this time to see them end up together and the epilogue is them deciding to do long distance. LIKE WHAT ABOUT BABIES? WHAT ABOUT A PROPOSAL? A WEDDING? A BEACH HOUSE? We got nothing. I wouldn’t be mad if the book wasn’t 600 pages long. I quite literally wasted 5 days of my life on this book. 

But I still liked some scenes and that frustrates me because of the author. Honestly the book towards the end was frustrating as well so ig A+ for consistency 🙌 whoop mf whoop. I will not be continuing this series. If only the ending was better and the author wasn’t problematic because then I would have given this book a good 4.75.
