Much like other pieces of entertainment set in New York City, I found myself hating almost everyone in this novel. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy it. I related all too much to the main character and her struggle with her job, yet I could not have sympathy for her, as she often blamed people for being insensitive about things they did not know about. Yes, they were awful people, but she still withheld information and then got mad at them for not knowing. 

Overall, I think the book narrates the struggles women have and then often ridiculous situations that life in New York can cause. It also is an interesting comment on the absurd world of celebrity charities and the cult of personality that comes with them.
