Breakaway

Breakaway

It's all fun and games until someone falls in love... Schoolteacher Remi just saw the last of the younger siblings she raised leave the nest. She's had enough responsibility. Pro hockey player Jase just broke up with his girlfriend because she got too serious. He's not ready for responsibility. They're both ready for one hot night of fun. When they next see each other, though, it's not fun and games. When Jase finds out Remi's a school teacher, he wants nothing to do with her-teachers are bossy know-it-alls who make him feel like a speck of dirt on the ice. And when Remi finds out Jace is a pro athlete with paparazzi and puck bunnies stalking him, she knows she doesn't fit in his world. Stuck spending time together in Remi's class, though, one hot night turns into more... Jase is a big kid who plays a game for a living. But when his past comes back to haunt him, will he sacrifice love for responsibility, obligation and duty?

parents don't compliment their kid's +/-. Also, no team would pull their goalie late in regulation...even on the power play. The other team gets free shots on net without worrying about icing.

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads . This is a great anthology for anyone looking to dip their toe in the new adult waters. Whether you enjoy your new adult romances flirty, sexy or dark, there's a little bit of something for everyone in this set. Not surprisingly, the stories I was most interested in when I saw this set are the ones I enjoyed most. Confessions by Jay McLean, Spider on a Plane by Ilsa Madden-Mills, Bunsen Burner Bingo by Penny Reid and Invaluable by Alana Albertson were my favorites. I would *love* to see each of those stories continued... especially Spider on a Plane. I read a lot of novellas and I'm accustomed to novellas set in series I'm reading. They just add something else to the story I'm already familiar with. Standalones are tougher. It's difficult to tell a full story in so few pages. Some of these felt like full stories and others really read like teasers. If I was rating based on the ones mentioned above, my rating would be four stars. I like closure in my stories and many of these had ambiguous endings that felt a little disappointing to me. All in all, this was an enjoyable anthology. I was introduced to a couple authors whose work I've never read and am planning to look for more from them after getting a small taste of their writing. I received a copy of this anthology from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
