Elea is a super strong fmc and she has gone through the wringer, emotionally and physically, from the hands of her so-called family.  She's been made to feel a failure, less than and worthless her whole life.  Even when she does something right, they find fault. She lost her childhood best friend and she has been left unmoored by never knowing what happened to him. 

Elea is so sensible and rational but without being staid or rigid and still managed to do things off the cuff. This was more evident when she's kind of torn between the two big loves in her life. 

Alex, her long lost friend (and teenaged crush) and Logan are such differing characters, Alex closed off and Logan was fun and encouraging. I'll admit I am NOT a lover of love triangles but this was handled really well and in a novel way.

Logan truly is Dean Winchester; bad boy with a heart of gold, funny, smexy, a tad cocky and a shameless flirt. The banter was flirty and fast flowing and he was a master of a well paced joke to break the tension. If you loved Supernatural you'll definitely get all the little in jokes, though sometimes I felt they were a bit overdone.

Alex is so secretive and the mask made him intriguing, wondering what had happened to him that he needed it. He's more secondary to Logan throughout the book but still has a huge part to play in the story. 

I really enjoyed the strong found family vibes and the secondary characters were all properly enmeshed in the story and not just there as filler.  

I really enjoyed the way Elea grew and became emotionally stronger. She stood up for herself and others, she moved past her initial hurt with Alex and learned to see what he needed rather than what she wanted him to need.

The world and friends group are diverse, multi-cultural and didn't feel as though they were there to check a box. They loved, supported and called each other when needed.

There are plenty of twists and WTAF moments.
