A Brit Complicated

A Brit Complicated Contemporary Romance Series - USA Today Bestselling author

Is shagging boss you love to hate called a hate-shag? Asking for a friend. My boss: Uptight. Straight-laced. American. Knobhead. If he calls me Ms. St Julien one more time, I might stab him in the eye with a pen. Also my boss: Sexy AF. Dirty-talker. Funny?? That tour of London I was supposed to be taking him on kind of ended up in his bedroom. Oops. Which brings us to me: In way over my head. Need prosecco. And condoms.

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. I've been a big fan of Brenda's books since I first read Swimming to Tokyo what now seems like ages ago. Her Castle Calder series has been such a great escape for someone like me who is fascinated by all things British. I'm not a full-on Anglophile but with a little more time I feel I could be. Regardless, I love this series and A Brit Complicated is my favorite so far. I've been anxious for Scarlett's story since I first met her earlier in the series. I love a good, strong heroine and she's exactly that. I can't think of a more perfect match for her than Bradley, too. They complimented each other perfectly. I'm a sucker for a good office romance โ€” and a hate to love story โ€” and I loved how the two came together in Scarlett and Bradley's story. These two had such great chemistry once they gave into it and I enjoyed seeing how they opened up each other's worlds. Plus, there were some great sexy times and more than a few feels. I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.  FAVORITE QUOTES "If you didn't like me, deep down somewhere, you'd never let yourself come like that, let alone call my name when you do." "Bradley's driven and successful. He's smart and funny and sexy as fuck. He's everything I've ever wanted. Someday. Later. When I'm successful in my own right. I want him, but dammit, I'm not ready for him yet."

Dislaimer: I was sent an e-ARC of this glorious book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I've always been a little - okay, a lot - weak in the knees for anything that has to do with the British. Like I'm completely in love with their accents among other things. So when the opportunity came for me to be able to read this book, I jumped right on it! Now, there are sex scenes in this book but they weren't graphic. I was caught off guard with the first scene but it's all a part of Scarlett's and Bradley's journey throughout the story. You see, Bradley is Scarlett's boss but after spending time together out of the office (for work), they both realize that they have chemistry and an attraction to each other - which leads to their little arrangement. If you even think for a second that this is like that fifty shades crap, I'm stopping you right there and wondering why you'd even think that I'd read anything similar to that awful book. It's not THAT kind of arrangement! I fell in love with Bradley's character (and might have started picturing him as Theo James towards the end of the book, don't worry, Brenda, I know he shouldn't be who I pictured while reading. ๐Ÿ˜‚) There was a point in the book where he wore a Spiderman shirt and I was like, โ€œScarlett, if you don't snatch him up, I will because I'm swooning over this hot man wearing my favorite superhero.โ€ I GUESS she can keep him cause they are way too cute together and I melted. I also loved Scarlett's character (and the fact that she uses British words that I still have not figured out what they mean for Americans.) She was sweet with her friends but a little sassy when it came to Bradley Walking-Sex. Ahem, I mean Bradley Waring-Smith. ๐Ÿ˜… If you're looking for a swoon worthy read, I'd highly recommend this one! Especially if you want some angst thrown in with mild sex scenes.
