I've listened to the audio version of the book, and it is exceptional. I've never enjoyed the audio narration that much before. 
I've seen the Brené Brown's TED Talk years ago and it is still one of my favorite talks; but the book touches many more 'layers' of vulnerability such as love, belonging, trust, joy, perfectionism, shame, and guilt.

'Vulnerability is the first thing I look for in you and the last thing I’m willing to show you. In you, it’s courage and daring. In me, it’s weakness.'
 
Both victory or defeat are a part of life and we have to learn to understand the necessity of both and be able to be fully engaged. We have to learn to own our vulnerability and understand it as the birthplace of the experiences in our lives.

The one big thing I liked about Brené Brown is that she tries to make it clear that she does not have it all figured out. Nor does she adhere to all the suggestions she is making. She seems to have a therapist on retainer - and has no shame in that. Even though my 'ol cynical self was trying to walk out of the room - I have to say most of this is motivational in a good way.

Brene Brown's research and experiences have been very helpful for me as I spend more time thinking about spirituality, connection and what truly matters in life. Being more authentic and allowing vulnerability is not a weakness, as she discusses, and it's definitely not easy. But, it seems to me, and her research and stories give me confidence on this, that it is crucial to leading a healthy life.
