I wasn't sure what to expect when I got this book but I needn't have worried. Brian has done an amazing job of building the world to make the reader feel its realistic and comfortable, as though they are in it and not just reading words on a page. 
Admittedly, I have mixed emotions about Richard - he's kind of a quirky man to me - unwittingly putting himself in the path of a future he has no idea about. But overall he was likeable, and I could relate to him. 
His use of magic throughout wove like a thread through the story and it really pulled me in. From start to finish, this book held my attention. If you want a good read that will keep you engaged, then grab this book today.
