A disturbingly weird, head trip of a book that takes place in the far, far future on Earth. Humans are no longer dominant and we must defend ourselves against the giant, lumbering plants that have run riot over the face of the planet and even created a vine-like link to colonize the moon. Mycelium are the brains of the plant kingdom and a lot of symbiotic arrangements are described in details that must be the result of ingesting psychedelic mushrooms. Sadly the vivid place of this book is not enough to make up for a lack of story. If it were an album you’d listen to it while high and it would be “like way out, man.” As a book however….Four stars for the incredible world building including lots of fun names and inventive creatures and situations.
