I like Bridget Collins as a writer - I like her ideas and I think her prose is really good. But her novels always fail to fully draw me in. There is a certain lack of suspence where it feels it ought to be that ultimately dampens the experience for me. It could be that I do not find myself caring about the characters which is quite important in her genre, I feel.

But for what is worth, I found this to be her most rounded out work to date and I know I will pick up her next one, too.
