With a strong central character rooted firmly in reality, CHERUB action is believable and attainable, making this a much more credible read than many of the spy stories on the market.

The whole opening was brilliant - a slowburn approach to CHERUB, building Dante's life and family then reminding the readers of how agents are initiated on campus. It was a smart retrospective way to incorporate the character. Unfortunately, the book seems to drag as it goes on, with James, 'John' and Laurens' infiltration of the biker gang becoming increasingly unexciting. The return of white-shirt McEwan was interesting, his character is dangerously fun and he is given something of an arc. The third act of the story really shines, with James lost in exciting chaos reminiscent of that in this entries predecessor 'The General', and a renewed focus in Dante's revenge plot. Overall, although the agents are definitely growing older and behaving like it, there's a feeling that this book was holding itself back as we see its unexpected mission result.

A new member of CHERUB gets the chance to avenge the death of his family in the eleventh book of the CHERUB series, which Rick Riordan says has “plenty of action.” CHERUB agents are highly trained, extremely talented—and all under the age of seventeen. For official purposes, these agents do not exist. They are sent out on missions to spy on terrorists, hack into crucial documents, and gather intel on global threats—all without gadgets or weapons. It is an extremely dangerous job, but these agents have one crucial advantage: Adults never suspect that teens are spying on them. Dante Scott still has nightmares about the death of his family, brutally murdered by a biker gang. Then he is given the chance to become a member of CHERUB, and when he joins James and Lauren on a mission to infiltrate Brigands Motorcycle Club, he’s ready to use everything he’s learned to exact revenge on the people who killed his family.
